RAC Paws By RentACoop 64oz(2L) Small Animal Drinker with Auto-Fill Metal Cup
Auto-fill waterer highly praised for small animals including rabbits, quail, chickens, and ferrets. Customers said "it does not leak" and loved the auto-refill feature. Metal cup is durable and easy to clean. Some concerns about lid staying secure, installation stability, and occasional leaking issues. Pricy but "worth the purchase" for large capacity.
My bunny loves this over her old water bottle because she can get so much more water at a time. I'm impressed with however it works because the water level in the bowl is pretty constant and it's easy to clean. However, the lid never stays on. I'll make sure I hear in the clicks so it fits right but the pressure makes it come off. Since it's inside I just set the lid on top but it would make the water dirty if you're using it outside
My 6 rabbits drink a lot of water so I decided to purchase this. I really like it because it does not leak
one of my rabbits apparently knows how this system works better than I do. Smart little rabbit! As you can see in the video my cruella demonstrates how it’s done lol the cup gets pressed down and water comes out. So when they start drinking it’s pouring more water into the cup very slowly. When they stop drinking it stops pouring water.
- it fits perfect on their cage
- easy to pour water in, just open the lid and pour.
I recommend using bottled water since tap water leaves calcium build up and it will clog it up.
It is a bit pricy but I really like this product and will buy more for the rest of the rabbits when I get a chance.
I have this in my quail isolation cage - for injured or new birds. I have it mounted on the outside of the cage with the drinking spout inside the cage. I like the metal bowl, much more durable than the plastic version. It doesn't leak at all and very easy to fill with water when the tank portion is mounted outside. Works great!
Used in my rabbit hutch. Awesome product! 2 rabbits, filled every other day or so, didnt have to worry about them dumping their water bowl or fuss with the bottles with drippers on most small animal cages. Went through 5 different ones and the ripper ball things either kept leaking or would release water. I was done and sooooo glad I found these. Easy to see and verify that water is in the bowl for the bunnies and holds a good amount of water so not refilling every few hours and it attaches and is sturdy so no worry about them dumping it and being without water for who knows how long. Highly recommend
They made a mess with their other self water. The bowl allowed for water play & food debris to yuck the water.
Quality & build are excellent. Easy to use just poor the water in, no having to remove parts to fill. Size is just right for no big water mess & Easy drinking access.
My alpha hen is suspicious about everything so I was really surprised to see her drink immediately out of this. It looked like she was tasting fine wine, she sipped a bit and pondered life and sipped a bit more. She goes out of her way now walking past several other water stations to drink at this one. She's become a water snob. The other hens follow what she does so now I have a flock of water snobs. I had to buy another one since this was such a hit. The cons: The top lid is somewhat hard to pry off and while the plug to block the water from coming out while you clean the bowls seems like a clever idea on the instructions, but in practice it really doesn't work that great. I can't get the lid off without spilling and I usually end up dumping out water when I turn it upside down to clean the bowl part, but my chickens love this waterer so it's a winner!
So i have 4 ferrets and they drink water crazy fast so i got this and put it on the top level of my ferret nation cage so that way they dont run out as fast.
Only problem is i wish it was a tad more stable. It kinda moves around when they use it but the waterbowl holds it in place between the bars so its fine i guess
I got this for my quail as they love to poop in the water container. I had a hard time getting it to stay on the side of the cage as it pulls the wire which defeats the purpose of the wire to protect my babies. Taking on the little bowl is a pain as you have to unscrew it each time so put it somewhere with arms reach. The idea is great but not for me.
We used another type of cup waterer for awhile but it was easily knocked over. I fixed this one onto the hutch & voila, perfecto. Love the ease of set up & the tools it came with to fix it to the hutch itself. Was expensive but worth the purchase. Would buy again!
I have a Rabbitry and these bottles have been great for the Texas Heat. 36 oz lasts all day for my pregnant does and I can put large ice cub blocks in each to keep the water cool. We did start off with the 16 oz which are good for the bucks and teen bunnies once they are separated to individual cages. Easy to clean and don’t drip. Definitely go with the metal cups.
A bit hard to attach for feeble fingers, but really enjoy the capacity that let's me water every other day.
I’m so disappointed. I’ve bought around 25 of these for my bunnies. All for them to start leaking on me. No matter how tight I screw the nozzle on. These aren’t cheap. 20 of them leak. No clue why! Can’t fix. Some worked for the first try and after washing them to reuse them, would begin to leak. Made major messes, along with waste of bottled water. As I’m on city water and so much chlorine and who knows what else is in water. Plus a huge waste of money. Nice idea, just struggles with execution and reuse.
Fit through the cage on our chicken coop and keeps the chickens watered for the day. Nice to be able to fill it from outside the coop and they cannot tip it over.
Durability is the only issue but they have changed the drinking cups to stainless steel so I have high hopes.
I'm using this for my french Angora rabbit. The water dish is too small. I wish they'd make a larger size dish.
I didn’t realize how much the generic water bottle was a pain in the butt for our rabbit until we bought this, he enjoys this water feeder much much better, I have them both filled up side by side and he hasn’t even touched the old one. I also love how it continues filling up the bowl, great feature!
I am using this for my quail and it works so much better than the rest of the quail waterers. Since this is out of the cage, it does stay cleaner. Of course my quail have taken to standing in the bowl, so I have to clean it once or twice a day. I just twist the cup and dump out the water to clean it. Very easy to use and assemble.
The plastic is sturdy. I thought 64oz(2L) would be big enough for 4 bunnies but should of gotten larger. Specially at night the buns get a bit thirstier. I think its worth the money , EXCEPT, SINCE DAY ONE, THE RED TOP WOULD NOT STAY ON , NO MATTER WHAT I DID. it seems not to fit perfectly. This makes the hay get inside, BUT, it does keep the bunny poop out of the water spout and thats great. I do have inflammation issues in my hands but not that bad so I do not think that it is I keeping the top from fitting. I could send it back , but then I have to ship it off and frankly its more time and trouble than what I want to deal with. It was sent nice and clean, I received quickly and have nothing to say against this company or its product. Its a great idea , just the top does not want to stay on. I will buy from this company again, a bigger container. Its a great idea and it does keep the poopy out!
I love the large reservoir BUT these used to be sold with a flat cup for rabbits, which I can no longer find. This deeper cup, while bigger, my rabbits have difficulty getting a drink from because they are larger bunnies and when they force it, they breathe in some water. Can we please bring back the flat cup option?
Loved how easy it was to install and that it didn’t leak or make a mess. Easy to fill back up with water as you don’t have to remove it from the cage. You do have to disassemble to clean once a week, but it was easy.
We bought this for our rabbit. Not a hen and it works perfect. He can’t rip his water over now or poop in it. It auto feeds very simply. Perfect ! we mounted on an inside wall of the hutch and not the mesh so simply added a couple cheap hooks either side. Recommend
I use these for my house bunnies on their playpens and cages. Works like a charm and I don't have to refill it every day. My only complaint is that if you fill it all the way, the spring clip is not strong enough to hold up the weight of the bottle.
I got one of these waterers for our rabbits. It works well for them and is easy to fill. It can be a little annoying to clean as grime gets caught in the nooks an crannies - but it isn't the worst to deal with either. For the convenience of refilling it and the ease my bunnies have with the little cup at the bottom, I would recommend it again. Just don't leave too much water in them when it is freezing!
Good:
Mechanism is simple and provides easy, fresh water for rabbits and animals to lap up. No more frustrated bunnies trying to get a few drops by chewing a metal tube.
Large reservoir for water
Easily clean the bowl by twisting it upside down and/or use a piece of paper towel to remove debris from the bowl
Handles outdoor heat and sun well
A few criticisms:
The top lid is tricky to keep attached to the reservoir, it pops off too easily. The lid stays on top, but just is not clicked tight.
Inserting the little plug to remove the bowl is impossible for big hands and you spill the water. This is why I turn the bowl upside down to remove debris or wipe with a paper towel.
One concern: all of the weight of the reservoir rests on the little red plastic connection to the metal bowl. There have not been any issues in over 6 months of the first of 3 that I purchased, but this might be a weakness of the design.
