Galvanized Chicken Tough Feeder, Weatherproof Poultry Food Dispenser with Lid - 50lb

My feeder was just delivered (Note: Packaging in excellent condition) and I won’t be able to use it! Upon removing it from the original box, I noticed immediately that of the 3 rivets on the back panel, one isn’t attached to the bottom tray and another is barely connected. How did this pass quality control? As it is now, the feed would fall to the ground and allow pest inside through the gap cause by the faulty rivots. Not what I expected from this popular brand. I would suggest screws or welding.

We only have 3 laying hens so the size is no issue. The feeder is mounted outside as indicated in the photo. What has really been great is that the food has never gotten wet during the stormy days. Personally I check the feeder daily and I've never had an issue. It's definitely built solid. We like it.

Great except for missing sloped top cover that is only a flat top allowing for roosting.

I placed sheet metal that is typically used in construction for edges of roofing and wish it would me more steep, but at least limits chicks from getting there often.

It came slightly bent in left front corner, but was easily straighten using pliers.

Like the idea of it holding a full bag of feed, setting up was real easy

Took my chickens a bit to adjust to get seed from this feeder. It definitely is not waterproof.

This is a great product. I placed it inside the chicken house, and I took off the rain guard because it's inside.

Easy assembly and installation. Good material, strong metal, soft edges.

I was at first very disgruntled over receiving this without a lid two times in a row. It took over the weekend to get a call back from rent a coop but when I did connect with them they were very helpful, refunded me and sent a lid. I would buy again based on their great customer service.

Easy to assemble , chickens like it . Wish it was a little taller but put a cement block under it to lift it and works fine !

Simple design. Sturdy and easy to mount. We keep this inside our coop and the little bars at the bottom prevent the goats from getting to the feed which is a big plus.

Even though it’s nicely made, my slobs, er, hens, still flick food everywhere. I put a seedling tray under it to catch all that wasted food. So they basically eat it out of the tray now.

It is a great product, my only complaint is the sharp metal lip that nearly sliced off my chicken’s comb. She now has a traumatic injury that we are having to treat her for. Other than that, the feeder is great. PLEASE cover the metal lip with duct tape.

I was having a mice issue and was able to get rid of them using these feeders along with other strategies I put in place. These feeders make it hard/impossible for the chickens to “dump/scratch” out the feed onto the ground, which attracts pests. I also put the feeders into a metal container at night so they aren’t accessible to pests when they are more likely active. The money I’m saving in wasted feed is a big win as well.

This feeder is well built, seems sturdy. We had to use washers (not included) to create a gap between the feeder and the wall of our coop, to allow placement and removal of the cover. The screws provided did not appear to be long enough to secure such a heavy unit, but ended up working out fine. We have purchased multiple Rent-A-Coop products and have been pleased with the quality of the products.

Easy to install. Chickens learned to use it easily. There is much less waste with this feeder than others I have purchased and used through the years. We have used several other products by this company through the years and have been pleased with each one.

We were having to fill their feeder every other day and the amount of waste was unreal. With this feeder we maybe have to fill once every two weeks with 15 chickens. This thing paid for itself with just the amount of money we save in food. Highly recommend !

I bought this as a back up feeder to the PVC tube feeder I made. The chickens stuck their heads right in, and the food is going down, so I think they are using it. And I can be assured my chickens have enough food for several days now. Its pretty sturdy. The cover is flat, and I have it near their ramp so it does get dirt on it, but I don't think they are standing on it.

I had ordered the 25 lb previously and loved it. The food stayed dry and the chickens used it with ease. Loved it. I needed a second feeder and got the 50 lb one so I would not have to add feed so often. This feeder works well but I have noticed it leaks some around the back holes where you attach on the hanging screws. Also, the feed does not drop quite as well as in the smaller feeder. My feeders are located outside uncovered and it has rained a LOT since I installed it so I am sure that hasn't been favorable conditions. I plan to silicone the holes in the back to take care of that issue. All in all, it is a good feeder with those minor issues.
