Automatic Chicken Water Cup Waterer Kit for Poultry 2-Pack

These work perfect! Finally the quail are not messing their water up as quick AND we can go away for a weekend without needing a sitter.
We installed some in a 5 gallon bucket, and some we turned into a tubed watering system using the diy kit by Rent-a-coop that has parts that let you attach the drinker cups through ½" hardware cloth, freeing up a ton of cage floor space. Highly recommend getting these. I do struggle a bit with emptying the inserts, specifically removing the inserts in order to clean them out. Need to practice that some, but it's a great concept. The bucket we just lift out hose oit the cups, works great, no need to remove the inserts when you do it that way!
Oh fyi, make sure if you use a 5g bucket, that you raise it off the ground and level it as best you can, the cups fill by gravity, but if they are tilted back they think they are fuller than they are and tilted forward they can overflow!

Been using these for about a month attached to a 5 gallon bucket. Setup took no time at all and the instructions were well written enough even my kids knew how to set them up. Chickens took to them quickly. Easy to clean out if anything does get in them.

This is my second order for these, because I accidentally drilled too many holes in my bucket! I’ve ordered three 2-packs, and each pack came with a bonus cup, which is great. I drilled holes into a free food-grade frosting bucket that I talked a local grocery store out of for free, and voila, a chicken waterer! We have both chicks and ducklings, and they were making a terrible mess with their traditional waterer, even with a plastic tray underneath. But the worst part was that they’d fill up the “moat” in the water dish with the pine shavings from their brooder, so every few hours it would get so full that no water was available to them. These cups haven’t really solved the problems of getting water everywhere (duckling will try to turn anything into a swimming pool), but even though they still are putting some wood chips in the cups, there’s still plenty of room for water, so water in continuously available. The one thing I wish is done differently was place the cups higher up on the basket. I basically put them as low as I could put them (about 3” from the bottom of the bucket, so that they were just above the ground when full). My rationale was that I wanted to make sure that my young birds could reach them, and also I wanted to have to refill the bucket as infrequently as possible, so I wanted as much water as possible above the piping that feeds the cups. I highly recommend putting them at least 4 inches above the bottom of the bucket, maybe 4.5 inches, because when you place the heavy bucket on your brooder bedding, the bedding compresses under the bucket, but not under the cups. So the cups raise up a bit if they’re in contact with the bedding (as they will be at 3”), which causes the water to continue “refilling” the cup nonstop. I walked away for a couple of minutes and came back to a mess. I was able to solve the problem by putting a large plastic lid under the bucket, And now it’s working great, but when it’s time to move the birds outside and upgrade to a larger bucket, I will definitely drill the holes higher. Fortunately, the cups can easily be removed and moved to another bucket. Anyway, other than the user error on my part, the transition to the cups has been super smooth. The chickens like them, and the ducks LOVE them because they can finally dip their entire bills in them. I didn’t even have to dip their beaks in the water, they just started using them on their own. Another great RentACoop product! (go buy their heat plate and the accessories that go with it, too).

I bought the RentACoop chicken water cup to replace the pecking kind of water cup. I wanted a large, clean source of water for my girls that they couldn't knock over. After I installed the original "peck" cups - ones where the chicken pecks at a yellow stopper to make the water flow - I wasn't entirely satisfied. So I bought these cups and am so glad I did.

Physically, you can see from the picture that they're much larger than the pecking cups. One big problem I had with the pecking cups is they'd be dry when I'd check. I saw the girls peck at them, but I was worried they weren't getting enough water. I live in a hot, humid climate and making sure they get enough water is very important. I like that these cups are always filled, which I think attracts the birds to drink more.

Also, you can see in the picture that these come with a rubber washer and wing nut, which didn't come with the pecking ones. Installing the pecking ones, I used plumbers tape but still got a slow water ooze around the spout. I added some silicone around the hole but there was always a slow drip wetness around the base of the waterer. I took out the pecking cup and installed the new cup in the same hole (same size), with the rubber washer on the outside and tightened with the wing nut. It was so easy and I felt satisfied it was installed well. I've never seen one drop of water since. Little thing but made a big difference.

I also like that the water is clean (I use a bucket with a good lid). My original waterers sat on the ground and always had a lot of dirt in the bases, even though I cleaned them several times a week. No longer a problem, although their beaks do drop dirt reside in the waterer cups. It settles to the bottom so there's still plenty of clean water in the cup. I just scoop out the dirt with my finger but it's really not a big deal, it's normal for birds who dig around in the dirt all day! I also freeze water in metal loaf pans during the summer; the ice bricks pop out easily then I drop them in the bucket to keep the water cool (without having to empty out our ice maker all the time... I'm looking at you, husband!).

RentACoop even sent me an extra water cup with a little card, which was so nice. I debated how many cups to get and ended going with the smaller number, so I really appreciated getting an extra one as well as the personal touch. I would buy from them again and am really happy with these water cups.

Just right, easily installed to replace the one we have that broke and it's good to have a backup.

This is a Repeat purchase. I tried different brand but this one seems lasting longer.

When we first got chickens, I purchased these RentACoop auto-fill cups, and they worked so well that I bought a few more to build a fresh watering system for our new additions. What makes this two-pack so great is that it lets you create a custom DIY waterer out of practically any container. My personal preference is using 5-gallon buckets because they hold enough water to last our flock about a week. Setup is straightforward: just follow the included instructions to drill holes near the bottom of your bucket, insert the cups, and secure them tight with the provided plastic locking nuts. I currently have three of these 5-gallon setups running on our property, and every single one has performed without a hitch.If you live in a climate with prolonged sub-freezing temperatures, keep in mind that the water inside the cup mechanism will freeze over. Here in Texas, our weather rarely stays frozen long enough to solid-freeze the full buckets, so a quick splash of warm water directly into the cups thaws them right out on chilly mornings. The only real issue you will encounter is dirt accumulating in the cups from chickens scratching and pecking around the ground. Has standard US NPT 1/8”-27 tapered pipe fittings as well as the included wing nuts. Have used this design for many years and really pleased with results. A bit tricky to pop cup off pins to clean algae from water feed ‘tunnel. Jury is out on the removable inner cup. Could be an algae trap between cups. Will update this review when I know. Right size for my full sized hens and the bantams. With a 4 foot water head they refill faster than my girls can drink.

I use these for my quail to keep a constant supply of water for them. In 5 colonies they work extremely well! In the one colony that is able to make the cage move/shake it leaked/spilled water. In colony 6, I had to go to a different model of watering system. Overall this is a quality product. I know in the winter months I will have to revert back to the old watering jugs, as these will freeze up. For the 9 months of the year that DON'T have freezing weather, these work well for me

As some one who has a flock of chickens and lives in the desert, I love these. I was able to turn 2 5 gallon buckets into waterers and it is so much better than the other waterers I've used. However, I bought 2 sets of these and a handful just stopped dispensing water. I've only had them for a year so that's kind of a bummer.

These are the top poultry cups on the market, recommend getting the covers if your birds stand in the cups. Shipping was fine, product comes boxed so no damage in transit.

I love these little cups. The chickens refused to use the water nipples. The inside cups are hard to remove to dump out the dirt that collects in the bottom so I just stir up the debris and use a turkey baster to suck it out.

Installation of these is pretty easy. Just drill a 3/8" hole in your bucket. Only issue is you need to place them about 3" from the bottom because if they rest on the ground, they'll continuously refill. That means you have a couple inches of water that won't come out too. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of.There was 0 training required from my chickens. Just worked well out of the box.My biggest issue with these is winter. They freeze regardless of if you have a warmer in your bucket. The narrow neck of the waterer is going to get cold. Best solution I have is to swap out buckets as they freeze. Kinda a pain.They also can get dirty if your chickens are messy and they can kick things in there that can jam them up so they need to be cleaned or they can leak or not fill. You do need to keep an eye on them. Put a couple extra on your bucket so you don't end up not noticing one there was no water.All in all, I'd rate them 3.5 stars (will round to 4).

Have bought several times. 5 star even though I can see folks giving it 1 star. The insert is worthless in my opinion. I have 50+ of these in my brooders and also my grow coops. The insert are very difficult to remove and dirty water stays in the bottom cup. In my brooders i just take a sheet of paper towel and sweep it to get out most of the debris and just fill my buckets thru the mesh top. SOO much easier than trying to get insert out which leaves more dirty water in the base cup. I throw away the inserts when I open the package. In the coops I have the bucks on gravel so if they are dirty just a little stream from the hose they get clean. Just bought another 15 cups for another 12’x8’ brooder divided brooder. Cups are easier for the chicks and I have never had a single one break or over flow. I did have two cups not let water in after filling, but as soon as the chicks started pecking the water started flowing. These kits say 2 cups, but every time I purchase they have sent 3. They are a little pricey for two, but not much higher than many of the crappy ones. I have tried three other cups and I have thrown away all of them away. Simply the best I have used and I started using the Rent-a-coop ones 3 years ago. Still use every one I have bought. Losing one chick on a hot day pays for the little extra cost of these watering cups. I raise about 35,000 chicks for sale each year. My laying I Jo hens have automatic waterers in their coops but brooders and grow out coops use these cups.

The 5 gallon bucket I bought from RentACoop originally came with 4 horizontal nipples; my girls would NOT use them. No matter how many times I showed them how to use them, they'd only drink out of their shallow tub (that they dedicate in).These are the way to go! No issues & the cups stay clean if you have the waterer elevated off the ground.I ordered 2 packs (4 each total), RentACoop threw in 2 extras!

These cups work great! We have really hard water and they have not been affected at all. Note: we don't use them outside for chickens, we use them inside for our pet rats. The rats seem to really like having a pool of water they can drink from and scoop up water from to wash up.There was a problem with the description. We contacted Rent A Coop directly and they made everything right! This was the second issue we had and the first one wasn't even their fault and they still took care of us at no additional charge.

We wanted to start using 5 gallon buckets to have less attention needed for filling and to keep their water cleaner. These work and are great!

I initially tried the peck and fill type as my husband got them for me as a gift. I flicked them as the chicken would and did not like how long they took to fill, so I took them back and researched and ordered these.

These are great! The cups are a good size, though I wouldn't complain if they came a little bigger.
They pop apart into 2 pieces to get a good cleaning with a scrubby and toothbrush.
For our warmer months, these are going to be great. I have no complaints so far!

Be sure to check and mount them 4+ inches from the bottom of your buckets so you don't have to place the bucket on a platform for the cups to clear the ground. :)
