Customers report this net effectively captures chickens, geese, cats, and other animals with its large 23" opening and sturdy construction. Many praised its lightweight design and extended handle reach. However, some noted concerns about handle durability, with one breaking, and mesh hole size causing tangling issues. Overall, customers found it versatile and effective for multiple uses.

Net is long for use in chicken capture

We bought this net to use as a last resort when dealing with a "jail break" and our rooster and hens escaping their enclosure. They are still poults but are large for their age and prone to escaping when we open the door to add treats or put them to bed for the night. The net has a large opening (which is great), but the net itself is very deep/large. It needs to be a different shape to be more effective. Less tapered and more round at the base would be helpful in capturing the birds without hurting them. As it is, the birds can work their way further into the end of the net making it a little more difficult to extricate them without loss of feathers. We think this net is a very good width at the mouth of the net where it attaches to the rim and handle. That said, we would buy it again. It works, although the birds are becoming experts at evasion when they see it come out.

Caught an injured goose entirely alone

I caught an injured goose that I had been trying to get for 2 weeks with this net with zero experience catching animals. Great range and was sturdy enough to get him into a crate. Highly recommend. Can’t beat the price and 2 day shipping.

I hope I never use it

I bought it in case my dachshund gets out again. Last time it took us three hours to corner and capture her. If the net turns out to be the solution we so desperately need, I'll update this to five stars.

    Big net

Thought it might help in getting the cat to the vet but then I learned to pick him up by the back of his neck so he gets into the carrier no problem now. Maybe the net could be useful for fishing now.

    Rethink this for chickens

    Liked the extension rod.
Disliked size of the holes. I had 2 chickens get twisted and got tangled up in the net and I thought I was going to twist their necks and kill them getting them out. I ended up getting a small holed fishing net that I will use. It is big enough to catch one chicken.

    Great for chickens too

I haven't used it fishing but I bought it to help when trying to catch one of my chickens to do things like treat an injury or to help when I have to give away roosters because I have too many. Works great for that so I am pretty sure it can handle fishing as well.

    Handle is weak

Arrived with crease in handle. Net seems to be very study and large, works for catching multiple birds in one swipe. Handle is weak and ended up breaking. Had to cut end off and reinstall.

    Multiple Use Net

I actually purchased this net to help when my little dog gets loose (he is hard to catch and get close to when he is loose). But since I purchased it, I have fortunately have not had to use it for that purpose. However, 3 birds have gotten into my house on different occasions, and this net helped me guide them back outside unscathed. So I am glad to have had this tool on hand.

    Highly recommend if used compassionately

I’ve purchased several of these nets over the years. Having an animal rescue, we use them for catching birds, fish, and small animals. We even catch flies and put them outdoors!!

    Buy this, rule your roost!

So unfortunately our roosters took over. They literally ruled the roost. Trying to capture the velociraptors was impossible. Until the best invention EVER was purchased on amazon. My husband finally laughed with authority!

    AWESOME....

I was worried that I got to big of a net BUT this net is awesome, sturdy netting and strong handle. the large size actually makes it easier to net poultry (even geese). I`ve been very rough on this net and it still looks brand new...THANK YOU....

    Lightweight yet strong

Purchased this net to catch a trap savvy Ferrell cat. It worked perfectly. The net is plenty strong enough for that task.

Great price for a much needed item.

As promised and looks good. Arrived quickly without any delivery delays. That sounds minor, but three other items ordered had problematic delivery issues that took 3-5 days to resolve.
I'm really happy I found a quality net for trapping at a great price.

    Works

Tough net. Works well catching geese on the dead run. Haven't tried it on running kids but I have confidence it would do that job as well.

Great Net- Mixed Bag- Good Customer Service

My first impression of the net was that it was very sturdy. It worked well to catch a few chickens. Then I got looking more closely at the netting, and there were maybe a dozen frayed square knots in the net, almost where it looked like the material had ended and they had tied it off. I don't know if these are hand woven in some 3rd world country or whatever, but the frayed square knots look like a weak point to me where the net could form a hole. I'm not sure if I should burn the frayed edges to stop them from fraying or just return it. I'm disappointed paying this much for a brand new net that has what look like to be weak points.

EDIT: 9/27/17 The merchant has contacted me via email and assured me that the knots will not come undone and that if they ever do, they will send me a replacement net for free. This guarantee was not included in the original packaging to my knowledge, and there was no explanation as to how this is "normal" for the construction of these nets. I have used the net to catch chickens and it is holding up so far. I am pleased with the quality of the frame, but continue to have reservations about the net. Maybe I will come back in a year or two and revise the review if the net holds together.

Edit: 10/30/18 I have used the net extensively for both chickens and fishing and it has held up so far. I am adding a star. If it's still good in a year, I'll add another star.

Edit: 10/2/19 The net has been used to catch multiple chickens, and taken on several more fishing trips for big fish. The knots do not in fact change the functionality of the net at all. I have added another star. This net is worth buying.

Edit: 07/15/21 After my dog chewed a hole in this net, I decided to order another one because I liked it so much. When I received the net, there was a manufacturing defect in the handle (see photo), so that it was impossible to extend the bottom section. I was irritated, but I know these things happen, so I returned it for an exchange. I received the 2nd net today, and this net has the exact same manufacturing defect. I'm going to return this one too. Making sure those spring loaded buttons work is the ONLY thing that needs to be checked before they get sent to Amazon and it's not happening. I can't recommend these anymore. Very disappointing there's so little quality control.

Edit: 7/29/21 Rent-A-Coop responded and sent me a brand new functional net free of charge out of their own warehouse for the hassle of getting 2 defective nets in a row. The new net works perfectly. I am satisfied.
