Automatic Chicken Water Cup Waterer Kit for Poultry 2-Pack

These work perfect! Finally the quail are not messing their water up as quick AND we can go away for a weekend without needing a sitter.
We installed some in a 5 gallon bucket, and some we turned into a tubed watering system using the diy kit by Rent-a-coop that has parts that let you attach the drinker cups through ½" hardware cloth, freeing up a ton of cage floor space. Highly recommend getting these. I do struggle a bit with emptying the inserts, specifically removing the inserts in order to clean them out. Need to practice that some, but it's a great concept. The bucket we just lift out hose oit the cups, works great, no need to remove the inserts when you do it that way!
Oh fyi, make sure if you use a 5g bucket, that you raise it off the ground and level it as best you can, the cups fill by gravity, but if they are tilted back they think they are fuller than they are and tilted forward they can overflow!

Been using these for about a month attached to a 5 gallon bucket. Setup took no time at all and the instructions were well written enough even my kids knew how to set them up. Chickens took to them quickly. Easy to clean out if anything does get in them.

I bought the RentACoop chicken water cup to replace the pecking kind of water cup. I wanted a large, clean source of water for my girls that they couldn't knock over. After I installed the original "peck" cups - ones where the chicken pecks at a yellow stopper to make the water flow - I wasn't entirely satisfied. So I bought these cups and am so glad I did.

Physically, you can see from the picture that they're much larger than the pecking cups. One big problem I had with the pecking cups is they'd be dry when I'd check. I saw the girls peck at them, but I was worried they weren't getting enough water. I live in a hot, humid climate and making sure they get enough water is very important. I like that these cups are always filled, which I think attracts the birds to drink more.

Also, you can see in the picture that these come with a rubber washer and wing nut, which didn't come with the pecking ones. Installing the pecking ones, I used plumbers tape but still got a slow water ooze around the spout. I added some silicone around the hole but there was always a slow drip wetness around the base of the waterer. I took out the pecking cup and installed the new cup in the same hole (same size), with the rubber washer on the outside and tightened with the wing nut. It was so easy and I felt satisfied it was installed well. I've never seen one drop of water since. Little thing but made a big difference.

I also like that the water is clean (I use a bucket with a good lid). My original waterers sat on the ground and always had a lot of dirt in the bases, even though I cleaned them several times a week. No longer a problem, although their beaks do drop dirt reside in the waterer cups. It settles to the bottom so there's still plenty of clean water in the cup. I just scoop out the dirt with my finger but it's really not a big deal, it's normal for birds who dig around in the dirt all day! I also freeze water in metal loaf pans during the summer; the ice bricks pop out easily then I drop them in the bucket to keep the water cool (without having to empty out our ice maker all the time... I'm looking at you, husband!).

RentACoop even sent me an extra water cup with a little card, which was so nice. I debated how many cups to get and ended going with the smaller number, so I really appreciated getting an extra one as well as the personal touch. I would buy from them again and am really happy with these water cups.

I am not part of a freebie network, and I did not receive these for free; I paid with my own money that I work to earn so this is truly my honest opinion. I installed them and they were in use for about a month before I wrote this.

I use these for my quail to keep a constant supply of water for them. In 5 colonies they work extremely well! In the one colony that is able to make the cage move/shake it leaked/spilled water. In colony 6, I had to go to a different model of watering system. Overall this is a quality product. I know in the winter months I will have to revert back to the old watering jugs, as these will freeze up. For the 9 months of the year that DON'T have freezing weather, these work well for me

As some one who has a flock of chickens and lives in the desert, I love these. I was able to turn 2 5 gallon buckets into waterers and it is so much better than the other waterers I've used. However, I bought 2 sets of these and a handful just stopped dispensing water. I've only had them for a year so that's kind of a bummer.

These are the top poultry cups on the market, recommend getting the covers if your birds stand in the cups. Shipping was fine, product comes boxed so no damage in transit.

We wanted to start using 5 gallon buckets to have less attention needed for filling and to keep their water cleaner. These work and are great!

I initially tried the peck and fill type as my husband got them for me as a gift. I flicked them as the chicken would and did not like how long they took to fill, so I took them back and researched and ordered these.

These are great! The cups are a good size, though I wouldn't complain if they came a little bigger.
They pop apart into 2 pieces to get a good cleaning with a scrubby and toothbrush.
For our warmer months, these are going to be great. I have no complaints so far!

Be sure to check and mount them 4+ inches from the bottom of your buckets so you don't have to place the bucket on a platform for the cups to clear the ground. :)

Cups feel durable, installing them was easy but hard to remove the inner cups when filled with water (to clean out debris at the bottom). Overall a good purchase.

I bought these to keep my chickens’ water cleaner than the traditional waterer. It works great with an easy adaptation. I attached 5 cups to a 5 gallon bucket and added water. The chickens took to it fairly quickly but they would sit on the lid and poop over the sides which would sometimes land in the water. To solve this problem I put a much larger lid on top so that any pooping from the top wouldn’t land in the water. The larger lid acts like an umbrella which keeps the water pretty clean. I added a couple bricks to the top of the large lid to keep it from falling off when the chickens sit on top of it. I wasn’t able to easily remove the inner cups for cleaning. I found it much easier to quickly hose out the cups if they start to get dirty. Very happy with my purchase!

Purchased a different brand last year and they just didn’t hold up. Was constantly getting them unglogged. These are made so much better. Love that you can take the inner cup out to clean. Easy to install.

Work as described. When replacements are needed in the future I will reorder.

Mount them higher than the instructions describe or you can't set the bucket on the ground. If you fill up the bucket and the water disappears, remove the rock or dirt from under the cup. Great product, instructions just need revamped.

I’m using these for my gravity fed water harvesting system for my chicken. They work fairly well. However, Dirt and debris collect in the cup and you have to spray it out with the hose occasionally. Also, don’t make the mistake of putting the pvc that feeds it in a position to be used as a perch or the chickens will poop in the cup. Also, it can’t be used in winter. Just get the kind that they peck instead.

I love these cups. They’re easy to install and easy to clean. I used a 5 gallon bucket and drilled the size holes that the directions suggest about 1” above the bottom of the container (also as instructed). I would recommend drilling the hole a little higher even though it will leave more water “unreachable” inside the container. The reason is that when I carry the bucket to my hose to clean and refill, I need to have a cement block ready or another platform to set the bucket down on so the cups don’t touch the ground. If i tried to put the bucket down on flat ground, the cups would be too low and would have to hold the weight of the whole thing, and would definitely break. So far, I haven't noticed any leakage and the chickens figured out how to drink out of them immediately.

Tried a few different watering systems for my chickens. These have worked the best, haven't leaked (I like the seal), seem to stay filled just fine and the chickens have no issues with them. I would purchase again.....and did as I bought the pipe kit system for the coop. They have a clean out cup you can remove and clean, however it's a little tough to get out so just clean them in place. These work and feel are a great value! One tip for install: I used an old ice cream container I got for free but installed the cups at different heights. You can't see the level of the water but with different heights one cup will be out of water before you completely run out of water in the container for the chickens. Works as a good water level indicator for me to know when to fill it up. Again it's a good item.

The cups themselves are ok. I expected a bit more flexibility with the material. Set up was easy. I already had a bucket with nipples so just switched them out. Only real issue at this time is that the inserts are not as easy to take out as I thought they would be. They are pretty much stuck in the outer cup and when you do remove it to empty any debris putting it back it just shoots all the water up out of the cup. Nervous about trying to remove them as I’m concerned about breaking them.

I bought this waterer about 3 years ago and omg, it's tough as nails. During the winter I use a heating element and it's awesome. So I had the nipples on it and my new set of chickens could not get the hang of using the nipples, even though my last batch took to them like nobody's business. I guess all chickens are different lol. I replaced the nipples with the cups and they figured it out in about 3 seconds. I love this set up because the water stays clean, I don't have to fill things up all the time, easy. My only comment with the cups, because I started out with them before I got the nipples is in the winter, the water will freeze in them which is a little annoying. This happens even with the heating element in the waterer. It doesn't happen all the time but when you use them in the winter you need to check to make sure your girls have access to water (this was why I switched to the nipples). So what I did before I went out there was fill a container with super hot water to melt them, once I did that they seemed to stay "unfrozen" for the day until the night when the temps dropped really low. That is the only drawback if you can call it that. Otherwise, It's a great setup, easy to use, and saves so much time! I would probably buy both the nipples and the cups, and swap out the cups in the winter (if you can get your girls to learn how to use them). Sometimes they will also freeze if the temps are crazy cold (I live in Colorado) but not like the cups. I would recommend this set up to anybody that has chickens, deal breaker!

This cup was easy to install and is very forgiving because it needs to be. the chickens bump it, it gets a slight movement and your whole bucket can drain out. so where it makes it easier to water your chickens, it does require a watchful eye and teadjustment as necessary. I put mine through a chain link fence to save space inside the coop and attached my Homer bucket to the coop by the handle with a wire to stabilize it. I had to level off the area, find chucks to adjust the bucket to make it level perfectly so it wouldn't tip or leak. but overall a very handy thing to have as a redundant watering system. I purchased it multiple times as I have 7 coops and wanted a watering option that woul allow me to fill up the buckets 3/4 of the way once every four days in the event I chose to go away for a day or two. Good redundant watering option.

These watering cups are excellent. Very well made, an extra cup was enclosed with my order, super easy to install and the cup works great for my chickens.
:( Sadly, while I was getting the first one installed my Borzoi grabbed the bag containing rest of them and chewed them to bits. All were mangled and punctured beyond any possible use.
So far my chickens are loving the one cup that I have set up already. I will need to reorder these so I can finish up my PVC auto watering system.
Super easy to clean too. I keep a gallon of water nearby and pour a splash into the cup each morning and afternoon to flush out the bit of sand/food/other beak debris that collects in the bottom of the cup. I’m probably getting a lot more residue because all the chickens prefer drinking out of the same cup and will no longer drink from the galvanized fount.
And as an aside, my small dogs will lap water from the cup too. I don’t recall ever seeing them drink from the fount though.
The great thing is that the birds are not fouling the 5 gallon fount that they normally use, as it is much more difficult to flush and wastes a lot more water to rinse every morning.
