RentACoop 10lb Chick2Chicken 4-Port Chicken Feeder

I love this feeder for my chickens. Because the feed is never at the level of where the chickens put their head in, they cannot scrape the feed onto the ground with their beaks! This one has the anti roost top which keeps the chickens from roosting (aka pooping) on it and also keeps feed dry when it rains! This is a great feeder, especially for the price. Went together in seconds, works great, and great for growing chickens. I would like to suggest they make it in a larger size!

Well built as expected from Rent-A-Coop products. However, feed holes are too small for standard chickens. They would not even look at them until I made them all larger. In the pics you can see the hole is quite small when looking into it as a chicken would. I cut out the outlined portion on each cup which solved the problem. Very little feed is knocked out even with the hole being bigger now and the girls all love them. Would love it if they offered this 10lb size feeder with the option to have a more normal sized hole and without the built in covers so that wouldn’t be needed. But it works now so they are all happy. It’s also been through some serious rain lately and has held up and been completely rain proof too. Very happy with it overall, even bought a second one.

This feeder is not rainproof as advertised…I bought this because it was advertised as rainproof and I wanted a clean, dry option for chicken feed in an uncovered, outside run. We have not received much rain at all while I have actually had this outside and it is always getting water in it. I believe it is because the lip of the lid does not go down far enough all the way around the bucket. Most sides are ok but, I believe, which ever side is exposed to more wind during rain the water seeps in ruining the feed. I would not leave this out if expecting heavy or constant rainfall…which, sadly, defeats the purpose especially during fall, winter & spring months here in the PNW…Was so hoping to love this…wish I could return it…used it inside for my baby chicks before moving it outside, so return window expired before I knew it would get wet…. (All 3 photos were taken within a 1/2 week in which we had rain (but not heavy) and only very sporadically. The picture with the chicken eating from it…I can see that there’s already water inside on the same side the wind tends to come at….again:()Update - Oct 6, 2023 - My home made one, which is a 2 gallon round bucket with lid & 3 feed ports, is great! Never a drop of water in the feed and it's seen A LOT more rain than this one.

The design and thought for this feeder are good, however, my chickens are unable to use it. The pelleted feed I have makes it difficult for them to get it out of the smaller square opening even when its fully open. Unfortunately, I am past the return window as I waited a while for my husband to install it in my coop.

The feeder itself is well made and works well, but the portholes are too small for full-grown hens. I had to cut them larger to make it usable.Once modified, it works great—but something to be aware of before buying.

I love this feeder. It keeps the feed area clean and the birds can not perch on it.

This is the best feeder that I have found. I would buy over and over again, but won't need to because it is so well made. This is good for any weather and even allows you to close each hole if you choose to keep rodents away. It is easy to remove the top and refill it and the cone on top is fantastic to keep the chickens from roosting on top of it. I have 10 chickens and one of these full will last about a week. Very happy with feeder! Highly recommend!

This has worked great in my chicken coop. The food lasts for a week or so with my six chickens, and I don’t feel like I have to jump up in the morning to go out and feed the girls.

The feeder part is not big enough for grown up chickens. We have 5-month wyandottes and buff orpingtons as well as 3-month barred rocks, and all of them can't eat out of the feeder. This is only for baby chicks.

Really great for preventing chickens from wasting feed. It’s a little tricky to get the lid open each time I want to fill it. I kinda wish it was a little bigger.

I bought this to close the feeder access and decrease the risk of rodents at night. However, the very first day, I found the sliding latches that close off the food on the ground. The chickens were able to get them out. I got them back in, but they do not close properly now. The run is covered, so no issues with food getting wet. It does seem to minimize food waste and the hens have not had issues accessing the food. However, I am back to removing the entire feeder at night since the latches that slide no longer close correctly.

Only two problems I've noticed1- When it gets low the chickens are unable to reach the feed and empty it.2- not approved for chickens with large combs

I love this chicken feeder! It is perfect for multiple chickens as there are four different feeders. I had a problem with my last feeder because my chickens kept getting dirt in the food, this protects the food and keeps it clean and it is also easy for them to get to. I also love that it has the Roosting resistant triangle top so the chickens can’t purge on top of it. It keeps it clean and nice. It is also nice for if you need to go away for a few days because you can fit a lot of food in it. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with chickens!

First day I helped them by making sure there was always food at the edge/spilling out. Now they’re 3 days old and have zero issues. I’ve used all the other chick feeders out there- this so far has been the best. They’re not able to scratch much out and I haven’t seen them kick bedding into the cups. I plan on raising it up as they get taller. It’s great that I don’t have to refill it twice a day like with the quart size mason jar ones.One negative, the lids on these are a bit tight to get off. That will be nice when they’re older but it hurts my fingers!10/10 would recommend

I bought this feeder to keep animals other than chickens out of the food. I like the feature of the cover that prevents the chickens and other creatures from stealing the food. Also, the height can be increased by putting it on large bricks. I did not give it 5 points because piastic pieces that are used at night to cover the feeding holes all have disappeared. Not all is lost because I have found out that the plastic dispensing cups on COSTCO liquid laundry soap fit well into the feeding holes. This solves the problem!

I have the larger version of this, and I LOVE it. Holds a lot of feed. Keeps the feed dry and keeps critters out of the feed.This version is smaller. I’m not sure what’s different about the openings where the chickens get the feed, but it’s harder for them to get to the feed. Also, it’s so low to the ground that it has to be propped up on a cinder block for them to be able to access the feed. Maybe it’s because this one is smaller, but it’s too heavy and tips over a lot.I love my larger one. I wish I would have bought another one of those instead of this one. Having said that, it does keep the food dry and critter free. So there’s that.

We get a ton of wind and rain out here. Other feeders I tried regularly got damp or wet, causing molding, clumping and lots of wasted chicken feed. I got one of these to try for my 3 chickens and set it up per the instructions on a cinder block. I keep it under a tarped corner of their enclosed run. The only time the food gets damp is when my chickens knock it off the cinder block, which only happens if it gets real low on feed and gets heavy on one side. (The ground is not quite level unfortunately). As long as I keep it about a third or more full, it never gets wet! I occasionally empty it and give the rain hood ports a quick wipe out. This works fine with crumble, pellets, and the more natural seed mixes. A++ this feeder is fantastic.

I buy a lot from rent a coop. However, this feeder, wasn't a great as I thought it would be. Water can get inside...I don't know how, but I'm thinking through one of the side holes where they get the food....it's not a lot but after a heavy rain, I find a big wet spot where a hand full of food is stuck together. Also, my biggest complaint is that I can fill it up with feed, but once they eat their share of food thru the side holes, the rest of the food doesn't fall down to fill the empty space back up. I have to go and shake the bucket or open the top and push the food down where they can reach it...happens in every one I have bought. Am I just doing something wrong? I don't know and don't think so. I was hoping this was going to be a time saver for me and a way to leave food if we left on a weekend trip. Im disappointed because it's not cheap and should work much better...

Wow I've enjoyed everything we have ordered from rent a coop and tried some others to "save money" only to return and be loyal. This one I don't know what I was thinking but - having 20 large gamebirds (peacocks & turkeys) and 10 chickens... I didn't realize they improved the port design to minimize humidity waste and my birds love tossing feed like I'm made of money. Anyway. As is its great for my bantams and peachicks. The ports are nicely engineered and we ordered 2. One I will modify by swapping with an older model for the chickens or simply removing the small access side of the port so my large birds can eat and throw their food as usual. For anyone else... I love this design but 10lbs was smaller than I anticipated. We are hanging these... the straps aren't as easy as I thought but mine have zero quams knocking over a 5lb and a 20lb feeder to see "if" better feed is found when knocked over. The small birds love the big ones don't care for the smaller opening of the ports... and after many other tries... all of our feed stations are now solely rent a coop. Water cups and stations as well. Nothing else has held up to my h3llions.
