Customers praised this float valve kit for easy installation and automatic watering for chickens. Many said "works great" and appreciated the included hole saw. However, some reported leaking issues with the plastic nut and connections. Most found it reliable for maintaining consistent water levels, with excellent customer service resolving defects.

Leaked after hooking up on the intake copper side. And also in the middle where the float valve is

It does the job but the nut cracked.

The concept is great but the plastic nut cracked and started leaking. I feel like if they included rubber washers it might help tighten the seal and they could stay with the plastic.

Works great in our auto drinker setup.

We have this connected to a hose and in a barrel. Water drinkers are in bottom. Works great to keep barrel full of water! Design is great as it goes through the wall of the barrel to the outside and hose does not have to be draped over the top. Also, the 90 turn on the hose bib makes it kink free. Come with hole saw too!

    Freaking awesome with update

So I bought this for a 5 gallon container for my chicken coop I connected little bowls to the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket. In the area that I live in it can get upwards of 120°. Today it was 112 and I heard it fill up the bucket twice today. I never have to worry about my chickens dying of heat stroke because they always have water no matter what. As far as I can tell it's pretty durable the functionality is awesome so easy to install I love this thing totally worth the money buy it buy it now you will not be sorry. The water is constantly running through it so you don't have stagnant water love it so easy to use and clean.

Float Valve that Keeps Chickens Hydrated

Simply Put I recommend this float Valve kit as it works and keeps my chickens hydrated. I don't have to worry about my chickens running out of water. I recommend installing a timer so that it only opens a valve in order to fill up the water for a short period then shuts off. I have used the complete system of Rent A Coop Snap system and I am very satisfied with the easy of set up and functionality.

An excellent float valve that performs perfectly in my chicken pen and it even came with a high quality wholesale to install it.

A key part of an ingenious watering system for chickens.

With this valve and some other components from this company, as well as a length of 1/2" PVC pipe, which I already have. I was able to construct a custom watering system for my chickens. They drink out of anything, including the ducks' pools, mud puddles, and random collections of water, but I wanted to create an easy to maintain, automatic filling source of clean water and now I have. I was able to place the water reservoir near my hose then run the watering lines to where the chickens congregate eat. Online instructions are great and assembly is straightforward and quick. The only problem I encountered was easily remedied. Because I got all the component separately, I found I was unable to buy the bucket they use in their starter kit, so I had to find another one and figure out how to mount it to the wall. Still, I highly recommend this product and this system.

So far so good in keeping the water level

Tried another float vale but it doesn't work well. It didn't cut off when it should. Had water all over the place. Looked at this float and remembered I had something similar years ago that worked well. And sure enough, this works well. Cuts the water off at the correct level and stays off until the float drops. Then it allows it to fill up again and cuts off again. This is exactly what I needed to solve the problem of not constantly filling up the waterer for my chickens.

    Works on full

We used this installed on the side of a food grade bucket watering system. I have the self-fill gravity based small watering cups installed at the bottom of the bucket. This worked like a charm. One note though, the first time we didn't have the water turned on full (only about a quarter) and the valve didn't work/stop the water flow. But when we turned the water on full, the float value immediately worked to turn off the flow.

I would give this S.N.A.P. system ten stars if I could

I was sent this RentACoop float valve to review, along with an ample supply of the different fittings that make up the S.N.A.P. watering system that utilizes 1/2 inch PVC pipe. Using the clever through-wire fittings, the pipe can be cut however you wish and mounted to hardware cloth either from the inside or the outside of the coop/run, and then the little watering ends are simply screwed onto the post that runs through the fence. I ordered the mini cup waterers to go with this, which I absolutely love; they are a very useful hybrid of the larger cup waterers and the peck-valve-type waterers, and they stay clean.

I have a Sentinel coop from Tractor Supply, and at first I thought I was going to have to mount my PVC pipe on the inside because of the way the hardware cloth is affixed to the frame, so that the corners of the coop/run jut out beyond the containing hardware cloth. But then I realized I could easily cut one piece of pipe to fit (with an elbow on one end and an end cap on the other) flush against the hardware cloth, between the two corner frame pieces. So now I can have a water reservoir on the outside of the coop that feeds water to six mini cup waterers on the inside of the coop along the one wall. I have to pick up my PVC pipe before I can build this out, but when I get it done I'll post photos so you can see how I did it. For now, I'm going to post what I have now, which is terrible!

Watching RentACoop's SUPERB videos on how to install a S.N.A.P. system will show you better than I can convey in words just how awesome this system is. As long as you remember to account for adding in the fittings to the length of your pipe, any idiot could build one of these. I happen to have a PVC pipe cutter, which is a very helpful tool if you're cutting a lot of PVC pipe (which I do for my garden), but if you only have a hack saw and a drill, you can still do this. They even include the exact hole saws you need to install the float valve and the shut-off valve! You cannot go wrong with this.

Here's my planned setup (as in their video):

Float valve into the top of a square water bucket sitting on top of blocks to chicken height
Shut-off valve into the bottom of the bucket
Short piece of PVC pipe connecting S.N.A.P. NO-GLUE shut-off valve and elbow
Long piece of PVC pipe installed on the outside of the run with posts through to waterers on inside

Anyone who has a Sentinel coop knows it's

Works great in my shallow trough

I have a shallow trough in my chicken run and have heretofore used the tradition float valve from the farm supply store. I’ve never been a big fan of the traditional boxy float valves and so I have been exploring alternatives. I like that this valve passes through the sidewall of the trough rather than having to be fit onto the rim of the trough. I’ve always had to wedge a piece of wood behind the box style valves to get the thumb screws to tighten properly or at least adequately. I love that the valve comes with the proper hole saw to create an opening to mount the valve as I have only a random assortment of hole saws and likely did not have the correct size for the valve. (Not that it is an odd size, but just that my collection of hole saw bits is terrible).

The valve works great in my chicken pen. It was easy to position and connect the hose to the valve. (I tried another style float valve recently that forced me to change the male end of the hose to a female end before I could connect the hose to the valve). Going through the sidewall of the trough allows this valve to mount securely and stay in the proper position without any manipulation and without having to MacGyver a work around solution. For chickens (and probably for sheep) this valve works great. I’m not sure how it would hold up to horses or cows as they seem to be more inquisitive and want to bite at anything new. I’m afraid the larger animals might great the plastic valve.
