Anti-Roost Cone for 5 Gallon Round Chicken Waterers and 20lb Feeders

Effective anti-roost cone that successfully keeps chickens off waterers and feeders, preventing contamination. Customers said it "does exactly what it's supposed to do" and keeps water cleaner. However, many noted fit issues—it sits on top rather than securing to buckets, risking wind displacement. Price is a major concern at ~$25-30 for a plastic cone.

    Fits a 3 gallon waterer...

Not the intended use but it works great at keeping them off the waterer!

Cone shape prevents chickens on top

I purchased this cone shape from Rentacoop after seeing it in their store link while purchasing the DIY water cups and feeder inserts. The cone keeps the chickens from hopping on top of the 5 gallon bucket and pooping there. The product is meant to only sit on top of the bucket lid. It is not meant to snap on. Our young chicks have tried and been deterred from sitting on top. I am happy with this product.

It fits on lil Giant 30lb feeders perfectly - no more roosting on the feeders

Bought these cones thinking I might have to modify them to fit the lil-giant 30lb feeders - I don’t hang my feeders. My birds kept roosting & bird droppings in the food tray or inside depending on how they were facing ! Well these cones fit perfectly ! No more roosting & the issue is solved . I don’t have to modify them - they fit snug but still allows me to remove them to refill the feeders .

    Nice but too expensive!

I like this, but I thought it would fit over my five gallon bucket--it does not. Too expensive, doesn't fit, would not purchase again.

Does what it's supposed to do - but

It's a plastic cone - should be less than $10 - not close to $30.

    Works but doesn't fit

This works to keep chickens off the bucket but it is just resting on top- it doesn't fit my 5 gallon bucket...

Does not fit 5 gallon bucket like advertised

While I am sure I can make it work it does not clamp on to or fit over a 5 gallon bucket lid like advertised it will sit on the middle but there's no way to secure it and make sure it does not get knocked off also it is tall enough it gets in the way of the handle it will not allow it to be hung for those people who use it as a chicken watering bucket

Thought it would fit over the top of the bucket

But instead it just sits on top of whatever lid you have on your bucket. Wind or a flighty chicken could easily knock it off. I guess when the description said it fits these sizes of buckets in should’ve known it wouldn’t fit over

    Worth the money

Put on my chickens 5 gallon bucket waterer lid and keeps them from trying to roost on it! Haven't had any issues with it coming off. Worth the money to keep top of waterers and feeders clean. I have ordered another one to put on 5 gallon bucket feeder!

    Helps keep water cleaner

I am happy with this cone topper!! It just sits on top of my 5 gallon bucket. The girls haven't knocked it off and totally keeps them from wanting to roost on top also. Less poo in water cups!! Worth it!!!

    Works, but.....

I love this brand, but they have me slightly scratching my head with this product. If you're looking at this, then I'm assuming you too have a chicken or two that won't stop sitting on top of the water bucket, pooping into the drinking cups....I bought this to deter my determined Easter Egger and Leghorn hens and....it works. My Leghorn tried it and lasted 3 seconds before being like, "Nah, I'm good." lol So it does work...no more bucket sitters.

HOWEVER, there is no way to secure it to the bucket. No screw holes, no adhesive, no nothing. I tried super glue, the good stuff, and it didn't do a thing. The cone just popped smooth off that lid when inverted. Hot glue is just as weak. Come just one normal thunderstorm with wind and I can see that cone flying. Get my E.E. and Leghorn fighting over who sits on the bucket and I can see it tumbling down in the peckery melee.

Buy it because it works, but be prepared to pick it up off the ground in the event of wind and...chickens. lol

    These work

Great quality. Work just like you hoped. Simply place on top of bucket. That’s it. Yes they’re pricey. I recommend these still. I have two of them and love them.

Really Nice. But Waaay Too Expensive

I like RentACoop products. But they can be really expensive. Like this cone. Excellent quality, really useful/helpful. But it's like three times too expensive. This should cost about $7, but it's closer these days to $25!

Can't believe no one has decided to undercut RentACoop by offering these at a cheaper price. I'm going to need more of these, but I'm going to see if I can find an alternative as I can't see spending over $100 for four more.

C'mon RentACoop, I want to support you, but I can't go broke doing so!

4 stars (strictly on the quality. "Two stars" if one factors in price).

    Almost Perfect

This no-roost cap for five gallon buckets does keep the birds off, however it creates another problem. When it rains it allows water to build up under the cone. Since I use spin off lids with deep pockets on either side of the handle, I get quite a bit of water collecting on the lids.

A simple design change would make this product perfect. Adding a lip or other change that channels the water away would be great.

    Works great

I had been trying to figure out how to keep chickens from being on top of the 5 gal waters. These things work great. Chickens can't roost up there and won't hurt them if they tried. I did think they were actual lids but they actually fit on top of the existing lids. I would buy again if I increase my flock

Works but bucket handle does clear the top

I keep a thick layer of shavings in the coop and I wanted to hang the bucket from an adjustable cable. If the top of the cone was an inch shorter, the handle would clear the top so the bucket would hang vertical. As it is, it's tilted a little. It's still usable; however, I can't understand the inventor not take into consideration the bucket handle.

    Must have accessory

This review is more for the nipple waterer, but this is a must-have accessory. This lid keeps the birds from sitting on top of the waterer, which in turn keeps them from pooping on it, which keeps the water cleaner longer.

The nipple waterer wastes nothing, it doesn't get dirty, the UV protection keeps it from growing mold. The nipples even work in a polar vortex; yes some ice builds up in the small tray, but a thirsty chicken pecks the piston so hard that it blasts ice right out of there and it keeps working. If you keep your waterer in the coop, you won't have evaporation and excessive moisture problems.

The lid even has a penetration and cap for a submersible heater; even in a polar vortex with a base heater and a submersible, your chicks will be drinking warm water.
