Customers said this automatic watering system is "easy to assemble" and "works great" for poultry. Many praised the "no glue" snap design and fresh water delivery. However, some reported leaking issues, difficulty with assembly instructions, and concerns about durability. Several noted algae buildup in tanks and flimsy components. Most found it effective once installed properly.

    Works great!

I attached it to a rain barrel to make an off grid watering system for the chickens.

    Easy. Quick. Worth the cost.

Use clear washers on inside of couplings for non leaks. Works great. Too many parts in the kit. Need a 2 chicken, 6 chicken, and 12+ kit cause now I don’t need all these wasted parts. Chickens has a cup waterer and instantly learned the nipple water cups so don’t worry about training them.

    A few tips and tricks

The hole saw needed for the shut off valve in your own barrel uses a 35mm hole saw (not 28mm as it says in product description). We were unable to cut a larger one cleanly after using the wrong smaller size, so had to purchase a new barrel.

It took a few tries to drill holes in the pvc pipe without the bit taking off too much. Finally learned we needed to keep the pipe warm, using a blow dryer right before helped. Also used masking tape where drilling holes I think to keep drill from walking.

Once finally done, system worked great, no leaking. We used a couple more elbow pieces than came in the kit, and it was easy to order them separately.

Look this is working for me. Its great, but I would if I were the company continue to work this model so it will last. I got it working without leaking but. It could have gone either way. Some pieces are just to flimsy to last. In a year or two I will be looking to replace im sure. Shame too, its pretty great. Just almost china-ish in quality. I would pay more for a higher quality model. So take that for what its worth.

Pretty good design. Nice concept that works well. Not sure of long-term longevity. Pretty great for the price.

    Amazing kit!

This set is AMAZING. I’m a new chicken keeper, but knew I didn’t want to refill water every few days. I have a flock of 5 and use three auto fill cups. I tried the water nipples first, but my girls didn’t like them. I love that the set came with both, so I switched them out and have had zero issues since. Water stays fresh. I can twist the cups upside down for easy cleaning, as needed. Easy set up. Lots of YouTube videos out there with instructions and set up ideas too. You won’t regret this purchase!

    Love it

Love the system no more scrubbing buckets dealing with algae ran a waterline to them put this system in had some trouble at first, but instead of using the 9.5 mm drill bit provided I stepped it down to 23/64 then the nipple with drip cup threaded scripted nice in firmly without stripping out easy like the 9.5 was doing. It’s tight enough to secure into the piping and not put too much pressure on the spring for the nipple where they would just leak from being too tight too much pressure on the spring. So if you get it, get a 23/64th drill bit and you’ll be golden.

    Highly recommend this!!!!

This has been perfect this summer. We installed this in the chicken run where it will always be in shade and even on days of 100 degrees the water in each cup is cool and they never run out of water. I bought extra cups, too, so when they needed cleaning more than a quick dump I just put new ones in and they were never without clean cool water. Even our barn cats love it.

    Leaks and overflows

Concept looks great but in reality it didn't work well. The cups leaked where they screw into the PVC pipe. Tried it a second time and it did the same thing. After contacting Rentacoop got no real help so I fixed it with clear silicone. Then when I hooked up the water supply the float valve didn't shut it off and it overflowed. Not happy with the whole setup. I'm having to fill the tank by hand which defeats the purpose of an automatic waterer.

    Not RentACoop's Best Design

We own and use several poultry items from RentACoop, but this isn't one of their best designs. The construction of this setup is challenging at best. The shut-off valve is the first real issue, as it rubs the side of the float valve housing and is difficult to turn. The vertical nipples are fine, but the water cups are worthless to us as all of our birds turn them into mud holders, and they get nasty. Overall, the concept is okay, but we have seen and used better options out there for auto watering systems for poultry.

    No instructions

I normally love Rent a Coop products. And this one is a good one also. BUT seriously an instruction or illustration guide or even a single sheet of paper would have been super helpful. I had to disassemble it to rework the configuration just to put it together. The water valve while not a float valve, does control teh amount of water allowed to fill the reservoir. Cleaning is as easy as a high pressure hose and a brush. It just irks me that I had to go to their website to see how it was supposed to be assembled

    Cheap plastic junk.

Plastic junk. Nut holding the pump broke hand tight. Good concept, but poorly executed. The system for holding the cups actually function well.

    Shutoff Valve doesn’t fit properly

The shutoff valve lever doesn’t clear the sidewall of the container. Some of the rubber seals are also sized incorrectly and are too big. Fairly common issues for Rent A Coop. Good ideas, things just don’t ever fit just right. There is actually a great video tutorial on this product. And I noticed when that gentleman shut his valve off he had to force it into place which likely pushed in the sidewall of his container.

    Awesome Product

Price point is a bit high. Would be a lot cheaper to make yourself but sometimes the sacrifice in time isn’t worth it. I’ve bought multiple products from this company. They standby their stuff and will always make things right.

Auto fill system for multiple birds

This is a great watering kit. The pieces are well made and user friendly. The kit looks overwhelming at first but it’s truly not. I glanced at the photos and instructions often when setting it up to stay on task. For me, there are two main reasons this is a win. One, the float valve! To automatically fill is huge! No need to dump water into the reservoir. Also, with the smaller reservoir, I find the water stays fresher and cooler in the hot weather. Secondly, the individual cups mean no yucky deep dishes to clean. However , to be fair, they still make a bit of a mess in these. After all they are chickens. But it’s so much better than a pan or larger, heavier waterer. It would be one hundred percent better with the watering nipples instead of cups.Overall this is a feeder to try for your flock. It can be expanded if needed which gives everyone flexibility in the set up based on need. The pieces are well made and the company appears to really care about the quality. Definitely worth a shot for birds.

    Small but well made

I ordered this refill kit for my chickens hoping that I wouldn't have any issues with leakage. So far so good the build quality is great. I appreciate the concept and design as well as the ease of use. Once I got it set up it was much easier to understand how everything worked.

A good system after some frustrations

The instructions (QR code / digital only) didn't mention anything about inserting rubber gaskets inside of the hubs, nor did my kit come with enough. Took me a while to figure out why there were so many leaks which was very frustrating. Fortunately, I also ordered extra hubs so I had access to some more gaskets. When I called their support number for help during installation, nobody answered or ever called me back.

Installing the float valve required a wrench and a lot of elbow grease, I suspect due to some miscasting of the plastic threading on the valve.

Once I finally got everything set up, I'm happy with it. The quail don't like the nipple waterers which is too bad, as the cups are much more annoying to clean out.
