Auto-fill metal cup waterer praised for rabbits, chickens, and small animals. Customers said "they work WITHOUT leaking" and are "very durable." Easy installation with 5-gallon buckets. Concerns include plastic clips bending under weight with larger rabbits, occasional defective units that leak, and difficulty removing cups with arthritic hands. Animals adapt quickly.

    Durable

Pros:Better quality than other brands looks and feels more durable and easier to get installed , I used to buy the red plastic one's and I get really disappointed because those are very flimsy and breaks up really easily , I bought this rent a coop a couple weeks ago and still working as it shouldCons: hard to find the right Tee size to make a linear pvc watering dispenser , I make a couple adaption between a regular 1/2inch tee and a 3/8 tubing then I use my tap and die set to create the thread and increase the cost bay double due the pvc high prices , but it works with the watering cups

    My experience

I was super excited to buy these for 16 rabbits and create a whole gravity fed water system. They worked great for a while. Until the plastic clips that attach the bowl to the cage start bending when rabbits but their weight on the bowl. slowly the plastic clips and support have bent so much the bowl won't stay clipped on my cage for longer than a minute. the little red screw does not help. in the pics if you notice how the plastic around the screw has bent. If i don't have the screw the bowl pops off, if i have the screw the bowl bends. it's a lose-lose situation. little bunnies might not cause these problems... i have new zealands.
Also, the one design flaw besides the material flaw mentioned above is the fact that if a rabbit lies under the bowl the bowl will be tipped up and all the water runs out.
Although the only times water wouldn't come out it was just because the bowl got a little too dirty. My springs have stayed in great shape for 3 months. My rabbits have not chewed through the plastic only the little rubber washers.
So im bummed about the plastic bending i really have no idea how to solve that problem. Ill try putting blocks under my bowls and we'll see how it turns out.

    Leakage

Love the idea and set up would work great if some weren't defective! Two or of the six leak water because the bowls overflow! (See wet spots in images) And I agree with another reviewer about eliminating the plastic for the parts that are located inside the rabbit cages & the hanging brackets!
Wish the seller would send me 2 replacements for the 2 that are defective! I really don't want to return all for a new set and possibly have the same issue.

Rabbit cage water system set-up-DO IT!!!!

Perfect tubing for rabbit watering system. Black tubing is preferred over clear or light colored due to blocking the light/UV which inhibits algae growth. The automated system has saved me SO much time and kept my rabbits hydrated much better than bottles that are always dripping and don't hold enough water. Rabbits will also drink more water from a 'bowl' system than from the nipples or balls in water bottles. Paring this tubing with a few other pieces ordered from Amazon has made an amazing system for keeping my rabbits in water. The water bottles were a terrible option. I think I'd even use this system for one or two cages, even inside/pet rabbits. When choosing the cups to use in the cages *GET THE METAL ONES*. Rabbits chew too much! ;-) I used these items to complete the system: "Rabbit Watering System Bucket Connector Kit to ID 5/16" Hose Include Bulkhead Fitting, Barb Ball Valve and Mesh Washer", "RentACoop® DIY Small Animal Watering Metal Cups KIT for Small Animals/Pet/Bunny/Ferret/Chicken/Hamster/Guinea Pig/Rabbit/Chinchilla/Mouse/Rat (6 Pack)", and Nigo Industrial Co. 3-Way Tee Brass Hose Fitting, 5/16" x 5/16" x 5/16" ID Hose Barb Pipe Fitting (Pack of 5)" (get the brass hose fittings instead of the plastic, more expensive up front, but it'll be the last time you have to buy them-don't get plastic).

    Works great!

I built 2 gravity fed water systems and after much research purchased these cups. Relatively easy to install, although I used pvc pipe, which made the drilling more challenging. I had plastic spirals that I had to remove with a file. With the pvc pipe being thicker than a bucket typically is, the plastic wing nuts didn't catch quite right; I put them on one system but not the other. I screwed the cups in tight enough to warp the rubber washers just slightly but upon filling the pipe, there were no leaks and water flowed into the cups as to be expected.
They also appear to be quite sturdy, as I knocked one off with lawnmower and it did not get damaged and reattached quite easily.
There was a bit of a learning curve for the 8 week old pullets; took me moving a water bowl closer and closer to the watering system for 5 days before they figured it out.
My grown hen won't use it period.
All in all a great product. The screws could be a bit longer to accommodate thicker plastic and the wing nuts could be better made. Would be nice to see it all in stainless steel as well.
    A solid 4 stars!

I just got them today and installed them to two different cages with some rabbits i recently weaned. I saw they were struggling to get water out of the other gravity-fed rabbit cup, where they had to bite the little thing to get water, and the clumsier ones would give up before they got enough, thus slowing down my growth rate by a week or 2 till they got the hang of it. Ill give it a week or two to see how it holds up under them, then by about 6-12 more if i have no complaints.Assembly wasn't difficult; one thing id caution on for those buying to use for rabbits is to look at the size of your wire. Mine is half x half or 3/4 x 3/4, and I had to cut a square out of it for this to fit snugly. If your wire size is bigger, you may struggle. My own nitpickings are they couldve designed this a little less bulkier imo and found a way to keep the plastic out of the cage so the rabbits cant get to it. Thats presently my biggest fear but this doesnt seem like it was designed specifically with rabbits in mind

    Pricy and not always compatible

Overpriced, considering they don't come with the right equipment to attach to all types of wire and aren't very sturdy so they get bumped and tipped off-balance and leak frequently, making a wet or muddy mess. Wish there was a more affordable alternative with the right parts needed.

    great

Bought these for my rabbits. I knew they would eat plastic ones that I use for the chickens and knew they couldn't eat these.

I have used these cups for several years. They rarely leak and work good for either young birds or adults.

    They work WITHOUT leaking!

I LOVE these so much, I bought ANOTEHR set of 6! I use these in my rabbitry in the summer months to make sure the bunnies have a constant supply of water!
