RentACoop 32oz(1L) Drinker Plus 2 Versatile Nipples

What a wonderful product it worked for my baby chicks. The first day I brought them home. They loved it and it helps to really cut down on the mess that a normal water dish does for baby chicks. It does have a higher cost but what you save in not having to clean out and replace wet bedding constantly really makes it a great deal.

This waterer arrived quickly and is easy to fill, and the quality feels good. However, it did not match the photos or instructions. The listing shows the red part without a cup, but mine came with one attached, and it was also missing the plug for the top or bottom. It does fit snugly on my rabbit enclosure (where I keep my quail), but not when the red cup is attached. I cannot return it because I need it, but I will edit this review to update how my quail use it.

My only complaint is I wish the bottles were more see through so we could see the water level line without having to walk up close to check it. And they came with the floaters to see the water levels. (the little ducks or turtles that float inside the water bottles) - and if they sold a bag of replacements of them as well since we lost a bunch down the sink drain.

Love the top fill options. Makes it easier for us to just fill a pitcher with spring water and refill their bottles that way. Also like that the bottles are on the outside of the cage so they don't climb, chew and make them fall over like some other ones we had in the past.
We went through several different types and brands and this is by far the best.

They have different mouthpieces also that you can buy separately depending on what works better for your pet or which type of animal you have. (remember just because it says it's for chickens for example doesn't mean that it won't work great for your rabbits too)
We got a bunch of the x shape mouth pieces. The cross tip kind for our guinea pigs and they work great. We got the bowls for the babies until they were strong enough to use the cross tip kind (since there's a small bead up in there - like a ball point pen) that they have to push on with their teeth or tongues and the babies aren't strong enough at birth. The bowls work for a little bit for that, but then we switch right back to the cross tips because the bowls get very dirty and there's no way to clean them out without having to dump the entire bottle out. And with spring water we don't like to waste any of it.

& Not all of my bottles came with the spring loaded holders, which sucks because I really really like them. They attach to many different types of cages, C+C, regular rectangles, chicken wire, outdoor huts, and the pens like shown in pics.

*Helpful tip - if your bottles are leaking or your cage is wet from your piggy 'playing' with the water bottles, try putting the bottles at a higher height. Most rodents, guinea pigs especially, should be lifting their head/chins up to reach the water spicket. If it's level with them and they are tilting their heads on an angle to get it, it makes it easier for them to lay there and chew and play with. The water should be running down their throats, not pouring out the sides of their cheeks.

!!!(you might find an off brand similar bottle with an orange cap instead of a red one... Not much difference at all, except the lid wears out faster so it doesn't click down super snug after a couple uses. It's slightly thinner cheaper plastic I think that's why. Cheapest option for us was to buy these ones in groups of 2)!!!

I had high hopes for this. BUT the nipple waterer attachment with the small red catch bowl is why I got this. For one its small and $18. But the chance for the baby chicks to have cleaner water and less mess i thought it would be worth it. Problem....thr attachment is suppose to screw in. But it would just fall right off. I emailed the company they wanted a photo of thr problem after I described it in full detail. Point is its defective its not usable. To take a Pic of a piece that won't stay on or screw in? All I wanted was a replacement sent. Don't waste your money.

So we use this for Holland lop.. It's perfect! It doesn't spill, doesn't leak (which is a problem for most water bottles) and an added bonus rabbits can't pee in it. Definitely recommend

This is a very versatile drinker. It comes with multiple ways of giving the birds water, and is very easy to set up. I tried out the cup, and the needle style drinker. All of them work great, and keep the water cleaner than your traditional waterer. It has lasted through three sets of chicks. I will definitely use it again.

Skip the regular chick watered and start with this. No bedding, food, or chick poop to constantly be cleaning of. This made our baby chick experience 100 times better!!!

Water is always clean compared to other waterers. The best drinker I have used in my 40 years with chickens!! A+

After using a conventional waterer for our chickens I was so fed up with the constant mess in the water and in their pen because they’d tip the waterers over. This has been a life saver because the water stays clean and they aren’t able to make a mess with it! We will actually be purchasing more of these!

They had no problem using this and it keeps the pine shavings out of the water. I glued it to a 4x4 piece of wood so they couldn’t knock it over when the chicks were bigger and just added wood blocks under to raise it as they grew. Easy to fill from the top. No mess. I wish I would have had this before when I brought home chicks. It’s the only way to go!

Got this because they didn't like the horizontal nipples... only thing is they outgrew it quickly and I had to get some DIY versions of this version of nipple format and make a larger version :) good for a small brooder though

I love that it comes with two different nipple attachments. It’s very easy to clean and I have not experienced any leakage. Keeps bedding dry and their water clean!

Only getting 4 stars because I wish they came in bigger sizes and same shape

This helped this years chicks adapt to drinking from the waterer in the brooder to the adult waterer in the run be such a breeze.

No other waterer I would buy. Doesn’t get nasty and disgusting. No need to clean out bedding that gets thrown in by the chicks. Don’t waste money on trying something cheaper, not worth the headache.

It was very hard to change the dispensing tip, and attaching lower cup was difficult as the latches are not very sturdy. Good quality product though. The spring used for attaching is not as tight as I would prefer but super easy for chicks to learn to use!

I got this Waterer bc my quail kept knocking the other container over. Their bedding was a mess and eggs were getting gross and dirty. I like that this one comes with a strap so it’s off the ground and easy to access. However, my quails couldn’t figure out how to refill the water cup. I switched water cups to something else but I still see the benefits in this one. I would purchase another if I needed something for my chickens.

I did return it. I got the next size up

It's awesome in every way. My only recommendation is to make sure that you realize how small it is. It is probably not much bigger than the smallest screw on water towers that I've seen so it is very small. Smaller than I had expected it to be. Overall that's fine for me, though, since my Seramas don't drink hardly anything and it does a great job of keeping their water clean. If I were to go back and do it over again I might consider getting the 2L (bigger) version since it would be more appropriate in the long run. Still, for a brooder with baby chicks this can't be beat. Thanks again Rent-a-Coop!

If you’re planning on using water nipples in your coop, this is the perfect water system for your brooter to teach your chicks how to use this, so when they get into the coop, they have no questions on how to find their water. It is a perfect size for a brooter with a smaller amount of chicks. It performs beautifully. There’s no leaking. This is the only water system I will ever have for my brooter. I also use it when I have a sick chicken in the house so that they know where to get their water from and you don’t water all over. We do have to place a cup underneath the water system because we had a few crazy chicks one time and they would pull it right out of the spring so that it went everywhere. Their chips were always wet so my only recommendation is to put something sturdy underneath to hold it up off the ground so that those crazy chick can’t knock it down, and it is much sturdier.

The yellow attachment is big issue with dripping water. Every time my chicks would drink from it, the water drips everywhere... causing a gross wet mess, underneath where it hangs and on my chicks.
That makes everything stink and chicks can get wet, from the drops. Wet chicks can lead to dead chicks. Dint let that happen.
I changed the attachment over to a cup type and now, it's fine. Saving for a hen, when one starts sitting in her eggs.
I really don't recommend this single nipple part, for more than 2 chicks to drink water from. They will fight over it and make even more of a mess.

My advice:
This single water container is Best to be used for a brooder hen, when she's nesting... but change it over to the red attachment. (Not the yellow nipple)

As For chicks: it's best to invest in the water CUPS, and make your own.
Save your money!
I attached simple chicken 3 water cups, to a big CLEAN plastic "Cheese ball snack" container & hung in in their brooder. Works 100% better for young chicks. For reference: My chicks are 3 weeks old and are in the adventurous stage.

Excellent product for my 7 chicks until they were old enough to move into their coop at 8 weeks. I started with the dangling nipple (perfect when they were tiny chicks) and transitioned them to the red nipple around 1 month when they were bigger and stronger. I super glued Velcro to the bottom of the unit and attached the other piece of Velcro to a brick which allowed me to elevate the waterer to an appropriate height and provided stability as the chicks grew more rambunctious. The unit was easy to clean and fulfilled its duty without a hitch! Very pleased.

This works amazing. Nothing worse about raising baby chicks than having to constantly change the water bc they've kicked shavings into it or pooped in it. this solves those problems and they figured it out in minutes. My complaint is why isnt there a stand. You can't set it right on the floor because it then presses the nipple and leaks the water. I had to turn a Tupperware container upside and and set it on top. Not the sturdiest, has tipped only once though. Just saying it would be nice if there was a stand meant to go with it I dont have anything in my brooder to hook or mount it to

Let me explain my review, as my ratings ranged from 2-5 stars. I had such high hopes for this for my chicks (with the main goal of getting them used to this nipple for when they’re in the coop).

For the positives: It definitely keeps the shavings out of the water, which is great, and the chicks took to it fairly easy. It was easy to install and I imagine it will be easy to clean (short of sludge getting into the nipple).

For the cons: it leaks which is completely frustrating for something I had such high hopes for. The entire area gets saturated with water because the chicks are hitting the silver tab so much and not able to catch all of the water that comes out when that tab moves. I have it propped up on wood that’s stacked and that wood is now completely wet. I placed a paper towel down and it’s completely drenched 4-6 hrs later. This isn’t good when you’re supposed to keep moisture away. Also, the lid to my container is not really secure (doesn’t really latch).
