We have purchased hemp beddings for a few years for our coop. This is the 3rd brand we are trying and so far we prefer it greatly, it is much softer than the other brands, there is a bit more dust but this is not enough to make us want to switch back. Good absorbance too. We are using it for chicks to bantams to bigger chicken breeds. Best quality price. We highly recommend this hemp.

Mixed with orchard grass hay this is great hamster bedding!

I won't be getting this again as it's not cost effective as just getting the $10 bag of aspen shavings from walmart but I really wanted to try this out for my dwarf and syrain hamsters! My dwarf has enjoyed burrowing in it and it's helped her to calm down some. My Syrian just kind of ignores it though but she's old so it makes sense. I do wish it really had more in it though. I was hoping it would be enough to fill at least 14 inches of bedding in both their cages but it's wasn't even enough for one but I made it work with more hay and paper bedding. I was a bit worried about it being dusty but it's not at all! My usual paper bedding is has much more dust! Only reason I give it 4 stars is the size amount! This bedding seems to be very versatil and can be used for loads of animals. Just be sure if you are getting this for a burrowing rodent you use orchard grass hay or meadow hay in between layers to safely support burrows! 😊

Absorbent, low dust, and free shipping? Great

I’m really impressed with this chicken bedding. It's low dust so thats a huge win, it keeps the coop cleaner and the air so much nicer for the chickens. The free shipping is honestly amazing too. If you buy directly from the company’s website, the shipping alone is almost the same price as the product, so getting it here feels like a steal.

You also get way more than you expect. It’s super compacted, so once you open it up, it fluffs out into a surprisingly large amount of bedding. It’s very absorbent and my chickens actually enjoy pecking at it from time to time. Overall, great value and great quality. Highly recommend!

Perfect for small pet litter box!

I have been using this as a litter box substrate for my 8 guinea pigs for about 4 months. This hemp hurd is low dust, hypoallergenic (unlike most wood shavings), EXTREMELY ABSORBENT, and has absolutely eliminated odor. I was really happy with kiln dried aspen prior to trying this product, but am 100% converted to hemp hurd. This would work very well for a chicken yard and as a soft surface for rabbit enclosures.

Duck-Keeper’s Dream Bedding – Finally Solved Our Mess & Odor Issues!

After struggling with soggy wood shavings in our duck coop, this hemp bedding has been revolutionary. The difference is night and day:
✔ Super absorbent – No more standing water (ducks can’t turn it into soup!)
✔ Odor control – Cut our coop smell by at least 70%
✔ Low dust – Doesn’t irritate human or bird lungs like pine shavings
✔ Surprisingly soft – Our ducks nestle right in

    Bonus Perks:
     • Lasts 2x longer than aspen shavings
     • Composts beautifully
     • Multi-species safe (we use extras in rabbit hutches too)

Pro Tip: Layer 3-4” deep in high-traffic areas for best results.

Verdict: 5/5 – Worth every penny for waterfowl owners. Our coop stays drier, cleaner, and fresher between changes.

    Great Product + Price

I was using another well known brand and had no complaints, other then pricing. This is about $13 cheaper and is the same size. $13 isn't much savings but when you calculate that I go through about 6 of these a year... that's $78 in savings. If you've not used hemp and the deep liter method you have to try it. It works amazing. It helps keep the chickens warm in the winter because it decomposes naturally. You never have to clean it out except once a year and then straight into the compost bin (and it's mostly composted by then). You just add a little bit every month or two (I throw it on top and then rake it in a bit). It allows the chicken droppings to decompose naturally which is great for your garden and easier on maintenance. It also keeps the smell down a lot since it's naturally decomposing. And as I said in the winter it'll add a LITTLE heat (not a lot) from the decomposing method AND since you have a thick layer that helps keep the cold from coming up from the bottom of your coop. So it's great all around.

Perfect Bedding for a Clean, Odor-Free Coop!

As a first-time chicken owner, I wanted to ensure my coop was as clean and comfortable as possible for my flock, and this premium hemp bedding has met my expectations so far!

The first thing I noticed was how absorbent it is—moisture is not an issue, and odors are practically nonexistent. Even after a few weeks of use, the coop stays fresh with the deep litter method, which makes my chores much easier to manage in winter.

The quality is excellent. I love that it’s eco-friendly, pesticide-free, and produces minimal dust. It feels good knowing I’m providing a safe, healthy environment for my chickens while also choosing a sustainable product that will eventually make great compost for my garden.

Yes, it’s a bit pricier than some alternatives, but the longevity more than makes up for it. A little goes a long way, and I can tell this bale will last me for quite some time.

Overall, I’m thrilled with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a superior bedding solution.

Amazing Bedding for a Happy, Healthy Coop!

We recently switched to RentACoop Hemp Bedding after using sand for a while. While sand was easy to clean, the dust it created became a real issue for us and the chickens. Hemp bedding has been a breath of fresh air—literally! It's super absorbent, and the coop stays dry and fresh for much longer than it did with sand. The odor control is fantastic, too, which means no more frequent cleanings to keep the smell down.

One of the best parts is that this product was one of the more reasonably priced options we found. Despite the great quality, it’s affordable, which is a huge plus! The hemp fibers are also smaller in size, making it surprisingly easy to clean with a litter scoop—just as easy as sand, but without all the dust.

The bedding is soft and natural, and my chickens seem to love scratching around in it. I also appreciate how eco-friendly it is—it's fully compostable and breaks down perfectly, which has been great for our garden too!

Switching to RentACoop Hemp Bedding was the best decision. It’s dust-free, easy to maintain, and keeps the coop fresher for longer. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cleaner, healthier coop at a reasonable price!

    Works and lasts!

This is where you get banks for your buck. Better than shavings and last longer. Also super lightweight

    Super absorbent.

Spilled a gallon of water and this soaked it up immediately so I just tossed it a few days to dry out. I’m cheap and I hope I can use it for many years. Put a shelf under the roost bars and so 90% of the poo falls on it and I just scrape it into a bucket every 3 days.

    high quality bedding

The outside package was pristine, undamaged. The bag of bedding inside the box had a huge tear in the side of the bag. It was obviously taken from stock and packed that way already damaged. It is a heavy bale and I had to tape it up to move it back from the house to coops. Bedding is also loose in the shipping box. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars

    Great Product!

I use this as a top layer over about 2 inches of alpine shavings for my 2 guinea pigs. It is super absorbant and allows me to go about a week before I need to change the litter tray. It also smells so good! I'll definitely be ordering again.

    Great alternative to pine shavings

I love this product. It is very absorbent. I only change out my chicken coop every few months as long as I use some spray or coop dry and mix it around every couple of days It stays clean smelling
The only thing I don’t like is that it has been delivered lately by the United States Postal Service and it is a huge 50 pound box, I don’t like my old mailman to have to handle that!

    Worked for my 12 chicks

I used this hemp bedding while my 12 chickens were in their temporary enclosure before I finished their big chicken coop. I changed the bedding once a week, and it did a great job of keeping the smell to a minimum. It also absorbed liquids well, which was a big plus.

The only issue I encountered was when their drinking water spilled—it created a big clump of bedding that wouldn't dry out. Despite this minor inconvenience, I am overall very happy with this bedding.

It kept my chickens comfortable and the enclosure relatively odor-free. I would definitely buy it again for future use.

    BEST OF THE BUNCH

I’ve tried several different kinds of coop bedding. This is the best one. Absorbent, eliminates odors. Lasts longest and is affordable. I’m a repeat buyer.

    Works well, chickens like it

Have used this for chicken litter for several years. This product absorbs liquids and the chickens love to forage and dust bathe in it. The package arrives with the litter very tightly packed and is quite heavy, but the product inside is very light. I also use a "Coop Refresher" to help with odors.

    Best chicken bedding

I really enjoy this bedding for my chickens, it definitely helps with smell, and it is almost dust free? The chickens seem to enjoy it. You may need 2 bags depending on how big your inside coop is

    WE LOVE this stuff

We've used this several times now and prefer it over anything else, I highly recommend for deep litter method. We just add a bale every few months and clean out a deep clean once a year. It really keeps the odor down, absorbs well, and acts as a great compost.

It is clean and hardly any smell in the coop ! Great product but I wish it was a little cheaper than what it is .
