48" Electric Poultry Fencing - Suitable for Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys, and Other Poultry

After having predator's get in my coop, I needed extra security and peace of mind. This has been easy to use and works well. I bought my first one second hand and then liked it so much that I ordered this one and put them together (same brand).
The only advice is to get extra poles as they sag a bit due to distance. Safe ducks (and geese) makes me happy.

The fence was super easy to unfold and put up. From unboxing to finishing setup by myself it took me about 30 minutes total. Super simple. It is not as sturdy as a traditional tpost and wire fence, but once you have the sections pulled tight it's good to go. If you angle the step in post it keeps the fence from sagging. Overall an awesome buy for any farm. We plan on eventually trying one out for the pigs as well.

Netting material is good, but the step-ins (stakes) bend SO EASILY! Every single one I tried to put in, bent terribly, making it impossible to even set the fence up. If it sags at all, younger birds can get through. I have month old birds shooting through the medium holes like it’s nothing. I can’t get the fence to not sag because the stakes are bent in every direction. Didn’t get to see how useful the electrification is, but this netting is NOT SUITABLE for varied terrain and hard-pan soil/gravel. Might be fine for a flat lawn.

Works excellent for keeping chickens in a run area or out of the garden. I especially like this one since it has five rows of the smaller holes so younger chickens cannot get through it. I purchased another one that was an all white fence that only had three rows of the smaller holes in my four week. Old chickens could just walk through the bigger holes that were closer to the ground.
This one they will not be able to squeeze through I also like it how they gave you extra little foot spikes with the fiberglass pole on any spot that you wanted to further cinch to the ground. Both of my fences are electric fences, but I have not tested those out so I don’t know about the electric side of the fences, but they do a good job at what I needed it for and that was saving my garden to let my chickens range. The only somewhat of an issue that I have with it is that in order to sometimes get defense part tight you have to push the polls in at an angle to stretch them. So in my garden around two of the corners, the fence kind of sag down a little bit by a foot so I’m not too concerned about that I think with this particular fence, they probably got some of the positioning wrong or out of line because I had to position this fence more diagonally with the poles that my other fence, but it still works good for what I need to

Key parts were missing from the box, instructions, stakes and tie lines, and the repair kit. Got part of the fence set up, let out the chickens and couldn't find the rest of the items. Very disappointing and inconvenient. Had to order another just for the missing parts. I haven't connected any power to it yet.

When we moved, we didn't have time to build a run for our girls, so we bought this as a temporary solution. That temporary solution has become their permanent area. The charge is enough to keep out critters (tested on our dogs and cat) and it opens up a whole new world for them to explore. We can easily move it to newer grassy areas. We did buy the solar charger and gate features once we decided to make it permanent and all have worked wonderfully!

Ground needs to be completely flat where you are putting us. It cannot touch the ground or it will ground out.

As always the rent a coop products have done well for me. It was easy to setup and seems like it will last a long time. Priced just right as well.

These have worked so great at keeping our goats in, we purchased a second fence for our Guinea's. The netting at the bottom of these nets getting smaller has allowed us to even keep smaller chicks fenced in while we move their coop to another location. We will be buying the RentACoop fences exclusively from now on

This fence works great for our sheep. Not once have they gotten out. A tree even fell across it and it didn’t damage it. We’ve used it for several months now.

The holes in this thing are quite big. My full grown chickens can either push through or fly over top. It does keep things out but makes such a pain to corral chickens.

One night I came out and saw the flash in the video which was taken from about 100 yards away. It looked much brighter in person. So that was the last time I plugged it in. Any paper leave or grass that blew up against it could have caused a fire. There was no grass or weeds close to the area that's sparking.

Here you can see the flashes of the short. I tried 3 separate chargers and they all flashed at the exact same spot on the fence. I returned it and ziptied the warning sticker to the area that was shorting out. Also the first night something tried to get in and tore some of the white strings.

It takes much longer to put up than any of these fence companies claim, and even longer to take it down.

It's best put down on just a dirt surface.
If you put it in a place where grass or greens are growing, you have to take it down and mow, really scalp, the area about every 3 days. That's because only one of the bottom lines is dead, but if two were dead a fox could probably get his nose under it. You need to take it down one side at a time , mow it, then put it back and get the next side, this took me about 2 hours a week to maintain it.

I would have traded it in for another one though, but that wasn't one of the choices. So I just did the refund. Then trying to pack it back up to return it was almost impossible. I needed to use other boxes and almost an entire roll of packaging tape to get it boxed up to return it. That process of taking it down and packing it up took over 2 hours and a lot of sweat, almost tears as well. Not an easy job for an old guy. Taking it down and packing it up for the return made me reconsider getting another one.

I currently own four of this brand, 2 are 48” and 2 are 42” tall. All are amazing products and value for money is way better than that you would buy in tractor supply. Very sturdy and durable.

We purchase for these fences to go around the property to maintain a goat run. It's wobbly it does not tighten like it shows in the video I had to make certain adjustments to eat section in order to keep the hotline off the ground

I bought one for my chickens and it works extremely well. I don't even have to electrify it! I'm going to buy a second one to use for my goats. It's heavy-duty and built well. I just got it so not sure how long they hold up. As soon as I got it out of the box it was easy to set up. Also comes with a lot of extra parts that help you make sure the fence is just right. Also, I had no issues with slack in the fence AT ALL!! It is worth the money spent on it.

We are VERY pleased with the quality of the net & the wire. This is light weight, easy to move & EFFECTIVE in deterring predators (our purpose in purchasing). Our medium sized birds do occasionally fly over/out of the 42” net. We are adding a second net to create a larger space so perhaps they’ll be more content within the confines. So if you have larger birds, you may want the 48” net.

To compensate for the fence sag mentioned by many, we use plastic or fiberglass step in posts like are used for livestock with hot wire, one per fence section. They’re $4 at Tractor Supply & also portable/easy to move.

Did I mention no predators? We’ve seen fox, coyote, & raccoons in addition to typical neighborhood dogs & haven’t lost a single bird, unlike our neighbor’s free range chickens & guineas that have unintentionally fed these creatures.

We’re very pleased & this is why we’re buying this product again!

I often do not write reviews. This poultry netting deserves a solid testament. I've owned several brands of poultry netting, and this one will outlast all of them. The vertical stays of the poultry net are made from poly rope, which is more flexible than rigid plastic. Over time in the elements, the rigid plastic stays in the other brands will snap off and leave you with holes in the netting. This kit also came with 4 mini posts which helps with keeping the bottom of the netting from folding over and grounding out. I wish I would have thought of this invention. The spikes at the bottom of the support posts are all metal with sharp points. making it a breeze to insert into hard ground - even gravel. You won't regret buying this kit.

The fence was really easy to set up, although I did buy some additional posts from the local farm store to add some support. I experienced the sagging that some have shared due to placement on uneven ground, but that's not a big deal if you use a stronger power unit (If you use a solar one, make sure it will get sun all day in the winter...). Yes, some of it will touch the ground, but if you've got enough 'juice' going through it doesn't really matter.

The BIG issue is that the fence itself is literally crumbling after only 18 months! the nylon (or whatever it's made of) turns to dust if you tug on it or try to move the fence around. You can gently rub a strand of it between your fingers and watch it turn into powdered plastic dust particles.

Unfortunately I will look to another solution for the chickens and not be buying this again. This fence might be OK if you just need to set up a temporary pen for a few days every once in a while, but make sure and store it someplace out of the sun and heat. Otherwise, if you live in a southern state plan on replacing it in a year or so.

Love the concept, good size, easy enough to set up. Maybe it's me but it's not got enough spark, my horses will lean over it. The chickens/ ducks will stay in as long as they don't figure out they can fly over it, yes i actually clip there wings to try preventing this. The steaks are an issue..
1. They are too far apart, so the net sags. I end up putting a fiberglass pole in between each to help with this.
2. With that much space between, why would you use a hollow post? not much support. As i run a ranch and build alot off fence there are 4' and 6' fiberglass posts that are solid and more sturdy and still easy enough to get in the ground.
I have 3 of the 180' that i move the chickens/ ducks around the property for pasture raising and i do like these nets, but I've had to make some modifications

I bought a section of fence and an energizer good for 6 sections of fence in the winter. This kept my chickens in check all winter long so I expanded this spring to keep them out of my garden. Nothing worse then tilling, planting and either getting seedlings up or just planted and find your chickens truly loved their new dust bath not to mention the lovely greens you provided, kinda like those cucumber slices you put on your eyes. After a month or so, I wasn't getting anything over 2-3 thousand volts. And this is the fix...
"So I worked on my chicken fence last night. Bought this in the winter to keep the chickens from going roming and to see if it worked. The chickens stay in the fence, the animals/predators stay out BUT all winter my single line of fence stayed at about 8000 volts while snapping in a few places on the ground. For the last two months thats been at no more then 2000, not good but still makes the puppies noses tingle. It was at 6-8 thousand when I added the extra two strands. To be fair, I've been a little down in the hips and legs and, well everything since the last Psoriasis medication stopped working on the Arthritis. So I isolated and moved the first section of fence and mowed down the grass that had grown into it, got it mowed tight on the path and resecured the first section of fence. Still at 2-3 thousand volts. I can hear it snappin at 12 of the 14 paces inbetween posts though. you get 4 mini posts per section to hold the fence up a bit so I took all 12 of mine and went to put one of those in with the fence energized. I've done this plenty before. Fence jiggled and slid up to touch my hand while I'm on my bare knee on the ground. Got me good enough I wasn't cussing. 🤣 So, after de-energizing, putting all my stakes in and re-energizing the fence? 10-12 thousand. (I also have two grounding stakes now, only one in the winter) GREAT. Did the other two sections of the fence, plugged them in and 3-4 thousand. I ordered another group of mini posts for where it's touching. I should be able to shock a deer at 10 paces before long."
The fence , even at reduced power, works great. Chickens stay in THOUGH THEY CAN FLY OVER. But they've spent all summer inside the fence, even when I moved it to keep them out of my blackberries for picking. The difference in tingle between 2 and 10 thousand volts is substantial. I really wish I could teach all the parts of my body to stay clear. I'm a testament to the it won't kill ya but MAN is it a rush. I've had the best garden in 5 years though one of those bad years was due to a bunny infestation. The chickens are happy as they have a large area to run around in. After Blackberry season I'll put the bushes back inside the area so they can run and hide in the tunnels created by the bushes. I can't recommend this fence enough. If you have flat land you probably won't need the little stakes for in between. But for increased voltage and predator denial, don't hesitate. You MIGHT be able to make your own, I imagine dowel rod and some way to hold those firm could get the job done, as could the right size branch or twig. But the mini takes are the right size, sturdy and repositionable for a price that makes fabbing your own something for people with time, equipment and gumption.

We've been using this a while now hooked up to our Gallagher S200 solar charger with a carribeaner connecting it to the top hot wire around the goat pasture we used this to make an L shape in a corner of the goat pasture since the goats were trying to eat chicken food which is horrible for them and the guard dog was trying to eat the chickens. If i were to do this again i would get rid of the bottom 2 to 3 hot wires because they easily ground out. We have this up in a Clearcut field and it does pretty good but has blown over a few times the past 6 months in windy/rainy storms. The animals still won't walk over this if it blows over so far and respect it. Goats took a few zaps to learn it, guard dog took one then wouldn't go near it for a week. overall a great fence, and semi-permanent solution. I think i'm going to order their goat fence for a lower price to rotational graze our animals.
