This autofill waterer is praised by customers as "easy to assemble" and "no mess." It works well for chickens, chicks, parakeets, and other small birds. However, some noted cleaning difficulties, with the water cup hard to access and remove. A few experienced issues with the spring being too loose and the lid popping off frequently.
This was easy to install. I appreciate the little Easy-Plug to block the water hole inside of the container. It came in handy when I already had water in the container and had to move the placement of the waterer. I didn’t lose any water with that added feature. However, being that this water feeder was small 32 oz., my hand could barely fit in there to screw in the plug to stop the water flow. Luckily my hands aren’t that big. Next time I’ll fill the water tank after the placement has been complete.
I hope my Mynah can use this into adulthood. It’s only a fledgling as of this review. But I’m afraid it’s only suited for small birds due to the perch size that’s attached to the waterer. I may just place it closer to shoulder height or below so he can stand and drink as opposed to using the perch. Or perhaps it’s removable all together.
I also own other Rentacoop products for our chickens so I wanted to try this for our Mynah and I’m so far pleased with it.
My agapornis loves to throw food in the water, so this is way more frustrating than expected. Cleaning is hard. My hand is big, so it doesn't fit well in the container to block the water. There is no easy way to remove the red water cup or clean the water dispenser system (which is always dirty)
Works super great in small coops or large. Great for chick's. To keep from drowning themselves.
I love these no mess waterers! The chickens can use them just fine and they don't leak. Saves me time doing outside chores, too.
The spring they included to hang the waterer is too loose and did not hold it up when filled. I ended up having to use zip ties. The lid didn't fit great so it was popping off frequently.
Great waterer. It was easy to assemble. Is small and works great in bird cages. The bowl is big enough for parakeets to take a bath in. Well made. Didn't leak. Worth the price you pay. I would recommend it.
This is a good quality, well made automatic waterer. Sturdy, durable and easy to clean. Good value.
this water seemed larger in the photos i know it is only 32 ounces but it just seems small like it doesnt actually hold 32 ounces of water
I actually ordered this for my bunny. The perch clip comes right off. This waterer is perfection! Easy to install, and I love that I can fill the water up from outside her cage! Holds enough water for 2 days for her. Easy to clean. Great buy!
This is a safe, reliable and very effective watering system for small birds, especially if you have an aviary. It's a lot of water for just one or two birds, so it would need to be cleaned out before the birds could drain it. But the refill mechanism works great. After the bird takes some water and leaves the cup perch, the inner spring tightens and slowly pulls up the so that it fills up until it reaches an stop position. I did find that some of the larger birds tried to chew on the cup itself, so it might be worth getting a spare or two if you have chewers in your cage.
