Auto-fill waterer cups with anti-dirt covers keep chickens' water cleaner and prevent breakage. Customers said the removable inserts make cleaning easy and the covers help shield debris. However, many noted covers are difficult to snap on, some cups leak or fill unevenly, and proper O-ring placement is critical to prevent leaks.

Ensure “O” ring is exteriorly positioned

To avoid leaks, ensure you place the plastic “O” ring on the outside of your installation, this is to say, the exterior portion of where you’re installing. This it’s important to avoid leaks. To make this better, I will go to homedepot and buy extra “O” rings to install on both inside and so that I have outside replacements to the connections.l in case any break or begin to leak.

    6 cups, 6 different levels

Cups do not all fill to the same level. I have a cup that fills to the brim and another that is less than 1/2 full. The remainder somewhere in between (mostly 1/2 full). Snapping the cover on was tricky, but once we got the hang of it, it worked fine.

Work well but could use some improvements

These work well and so far no leaks, but getting the hoods on was a task and required me having to use pliers to snap them in correctly. The other thing that is a pain is emptying out the top cup as no matter what I do the stationary cups fill up with water so when I put the top cup back in it cause the water to splatter. But, I'm planning to purchase more to use in my other runs. Good product but needs some tweaking.

    Works great, nothing leaks

Directions are lacking, but once I got them put together they work great. I put the rubber washer on the outside and they aren't leaking. I don't have metric drill bits, so I used a 25/64 bit. I tried the equivalent which is 23/64, but it was too small. Used a 5 gallon bucket so I measured 2 1/4" up from the bottom and 5 1/2" spacing for all 6 cups. Put it up on some blocks. Way better than buying another $99 waterer.

A lot cheaper and versatile than anything sold at the feed store

I have some of rent a coop products and although they are all plastic they have held up surprisingly well. These are more expensive than some of the competitors, but will also outlast the others. These cups come with an inner cup that makes cleaning them 1,000,000 times better than the smaller ones I've used. Bigger too which is welcome. The dust cover is a nice addition will help shield at least a little of the mess chickens make.Instructions say use a 9mm drill bit, I doubt most people in the US will have a 9mm drill bit. You are in luck though, I used a 3/8" drill bit and it was a snug fit.Instructions don't tell you if you put the rubber gasket on the inside or outside, I put it on the inside of the bucket, my next bucket I think I'll try the outside because I had small leak - a stern talking to and a quick tightening sorted that out though.Last topic to cover is the assembly of the cover over the cup, it wasn't easy and my hands are still recovering. For a minute there, I thought I'd finally met my match and was going to have to call in the wife.

Not Happy with the Covers for the water bowls…I have Tried to get them into place and it is just not Happening~I am going to End Up Breaking Something if I have to Force them on…Seems like it should be a lot Simpler to slide on~I wasted Money getting the bowls with the covers~

    Great idea but they leak

Great idea…. But the cups leak. It will take modification to fix this which is a bummer.

Better than most cheap made ones.

This is a good alternative to a open waterer to keep the water clean, my issues are few but this might be okay for lighter breeds of chicken but My heavy breed tends to knock them crooked which allows it to leak , they seem to work better on buckets but nothing larger and if you try to get customer service for solutions good luck.

Thoughtful design that addressed several of my issues with other drinking cups.

I have so many different waterer types for my chicken coops and love the flexibility of the size of water source I can connect the drinking cups and nipples to but don't like that I can't easily glace at the nipples and be able to tell if they are working properly so I prefer the cups but they get SO dirty and I've had birds try to stand on them and break them....Enter these gems by rentacoop. Thoughtfully designed to address most of my biggest issues with the cups. The "roof/tent" over the top prevents my birds from trying to balance like an acrobat on top of the tiny cups, the inserts while not the complete answer to the dirty cups issue makes cleaning them SO MUCH easier. These were a good pick-up. I am going to slowly be replacing the regular cups with these because I try to keep my vast amount of chickens underwraps when it comes to caring for them. The more efficient the better. Now these cups seem to be a pretty standard size...So rentacoop I know it won't be as big of a money maker but if you made the inserts and tents as a stand alone product I could add to my current drinking cups I would buy them for all of them tomorrow. I just can't justify replacing perfectly good cups with other cups all at once.

Nice large watering cups with covers - difficult to get together

These watering cups are great, larger than usual, I have a lot of these smaller cups installed on buckets for our chickens. I tried using these for geese, but they immediately managed to rip off the hoods and then the watering cups.... my geese gnaw on everything, just for fun, they've destroyed many of my small trees that I planted, even with fencing around, somehow they managed to get in or destroy the fencing to the point where they could reach and ... gnaw it to death. It seems they do the same with these cups, so I removed them from my geese. They do work better on ducks, although my ducks still manage to murk these cups up really good so I have to wash them out frequently. However, at least the ducks don't damage or rip off these cups, but they drink from them. They still don't last very long (depends how many gallons of water you have in the container or connected to where you've installed these cups), so I've relocated these cups to my large chickens. They love them, and haven't gotten too much dirt flung into these cups either. They certainly work, but I feel the price is a big high compared to others I have purchased and installed. But they do come with the covers. Which are very difficult to install by the way, I had to have hubby do it, there was no chance of me pressing the housing together so it could lock....he manhandled it and they all came out good. Just be aware that these are really difficult to get together! Otherwise a good product!

    Not great at all!

Very hard to get the cover on and off.  Doesn’t keep the water cleaner in the cups.

    Rentacoop Cups

I have the SIP station hooked up outside my coop, and it has worked well so far. However, the cups get dirty easily because of the chickens. So I thought I'd give these a shot. The cups are bigger, and you can't simply slip the plastic removable cup into the cups that come with the sip station. They are easy to replace, though. The hood part of the cup was a little trickier for me to get attached, and my girls were mighty curious, but it did not deter them from drinking. They seem to prefer metal cups to plastic, but I like that I can take out the insert and wash it without having to remove the whole device.

    helps keeps water clean

I’ve got 31 chickens, so keeping their water clean and filled is a constant chore. I decided to try this RentACoop DIY waterer kit and it’s been a solid addition to the setup. The cups are a good size and the inserts help control the water flow well. They refill automatically, which cuts down on how often I need to check them, especially during busy mornings. The quality seems good. The plastic feels sturdy and the anti-dirt covers are a nice touch—they do help keep debris out, though my birds still manage to kick some stuff in now and then. Nothing’s broken or clogged so far, even with daily use.Installation was pretty simple. I attached them to a food-grade bucket I already had, and the fit was snug with no leaking. My chickens figured them out quickly, and I’ve seen the ducks using them too. Haven’t had a chance to try with geese or turkeys, but for chickens, it’s been working just fine.So far, it’s held up well and made water maintenance a bit easier for my flock.
