RentACoop Big Red Barn Chick Brooder

It is appealing this can get hosed off and folded up until it is needed again. However, where the folds are, are already worn so I’m not sure how many times this will fold and u fold before those areas rip/break. Love the size. Love that it keeps chicks safe from feline housemates. It fits perfectly on a pop up table so it can be off the floor and easier to access chicks and to clean. I liked the included pads a lot until the chicks started to shred them. I have taken them out and don’t use either pad now, just have shavings in. And really like the included light. It kept falling off inside but it illuminates fine just laid across the closed top.

Best thing and necessary for an urban chicken!My kids loved the see through doors to watch the chicks run about and chickens also loved looking out. Made cleaning out super easy and less smelly/messy. And it was cute, which is a bonus

Use it to put my babies outside in. I turn it upside down so they can get in grass. Love how easy it is to clean. My only negative is the cost. I feel it is a lil pricey.

We needed a coop we could keep indoors until the chicks get their full feathers. With the unpredictable temperatures at night, even with a heater we couldn't keep the outdoor coop warm enough, and we previously lost 4 of our babies. We're not taking any chances, so we are keeping them in the house for a little while longer.There's no heater included, and the lights don't really warm it, so we put a flat panel heater in it. The coop has pretty big slotted openings on the top and sides so because we have them in an air conditioned house, I had to put a fitted sheet around the coop in order to keep the heat in. As we are able to lower the temperature each week, then we will be able to keep them in there with no heat and most likely they will be ready to move to the outdoor coop.Assembly was easy, and it is easy to clean, but the door latch is a pain to close.After we are finished using it, it should be easy to break down and we're going to store it back in the box it came in.I hope this helps!

This is great for chicks! We ended up with 20, so by week 3 we had to move this brooder into the garage and we attached a wire dog playpen to it and gave them some more room. At night we turn the garage light off and keep the included led light on inside the brooder. They naturally gravitate to the light and once they are inside I slide the doors shut and they sleep in the brooder with their heat plates. The food and water I am keeping in the playpen area. The doors get debris from their bedding stuck in the sliding door track and you have to use a knife to get that out to be able to shut the doors. That is really the only complaint. I love that you can fold it up for storage, and it can be used for a broody hen and her babies or as a sick chicken hospital if ever needed.

I love this Chick Brooder for my chicks. I have 8 and they have a lot of room to move around and to grow before they go to their coop. I'm excited that I can fold it up to use for later if needed. Easy to access front doors. I'm not crazy about the lid on top. It is difficult to keep it opened if I want to access the chicks or brooder from the top.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Big Red Barn. The space is ample for 15 baby chicks from day 1 til about 4 weeks. After that, they need to go outside in a bigger area for day time for sure. But put them back in at night time for sleeping. I used the brooder heater for warmth for them. The barn has adequate ventilation and absolutely love the light at the top. And able to see the babies through the plastic doors makes life fun for all!It's very easy to clean and wipe down. And if you use a wet/dry vac to vacuum all hempOut at cleaning, it's that much easier. I did use XL dog pee pads on bottom of tray before putting hemp in. So much easier. Take about 10 minutes to clean TOPS! So easy! The water system is awesome and hanging it outside leaves the inside with more roomFor the babies to run around in. Wasn't real thrilled with the feeder system. The one port that they actually eat from was not at all adequate or chick friendly for them to even find. So use the old fashion way for feeding.But highly recommend if you raise baby chicks and have been using the old tote way to do it. BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE BIG RED BARN!! ❤️Edited to add a comment or 2!I think it needs something attached to prop up the lid while cleaning it. And another cut out in the back for an electrical cord to go through. That would make this all great!!

Absolutely love this! It has been the biggest hit for my family and pets. Easy set up very sturdy. I have 4 cats and they haven't paid any attention to it since the first day. My kids love watching the baby chicks through the window and along with my dogs. Very spacious. I have 11 chicks in this right now. I am definitely going to buy another for some more chicks. Love love love this! Also, its a little cheaper through Amazon then the actual website which is a huge plus!

It’s pretty easy to put together I got confused on 1 part but a YouTube video helped tremendously. It came with all the parts. It’s so cute and is the Taj Mahal to my chicks

PROs - The design is good and it is easy to put together. Plenty of ventilation. The 48x24 unit should give the chicks enough space to start their first flight.CONs - After a few days, the plastic door channel has pulled away from the unit leaving a significant gap. I ended up putting a cut sheet of plywood over the top as I was having issues with the roof caving in. I was expecting thin wood but ended up being corrugated plastic (slightly thicker than cardboard). I was hoping for something more durable for the money. I’d have liked to be able to use it for a couple years at least for the price. However, due to material quality I am hoping to at least make it through this batch of chicks.CON - Recommended Rent-A-Coop feeder doesn’t fit without having to cut a hole to get opening through.

Great product but I’m missing the screw to the lock and there is no where to message the seller for a replacement screw. It’s a really nice size brooder. Wish there was a way to put the food and water on the outside for easier filling.

Our initial coop arrived with cracked plexiglass and missing screws for the hardware that keeps the door closed. I contacted Rent A Coop and had a replacement at my door within a week. We had 10 chicks in this brooder for 4 weeks. We had a small “training roost” and the Rent A Coop heat lamp, and 2 Rent a Coop Feeders and 2 Rent a Coop waterers. I love how easy this is to clean and keep an eye on the chicks. We ended up using our “broken” barn as a hospital for an adult hen and it was the perfect size. Hose it off and it all folds up when done. Highly recommend.

Feels really cheaply made. Came two days late and damaged all around. As you can see in the photo. The areas it comes folded are badly stressed. The latches came broke and I needed it immediately for some pullets so I had to figure it out as the tiny nails used wouldn’t even screw back in. Fast forward a week of having two small birds in it, the part that holds the plexy glass doors starts coming unglued allowing any wood shavings to fall out of it. All in all I’d say spend the $50 extra to buy a wood one..this ones just not good and feels like a cardboard box.

Not hard plastic. It is made out of corrugated plastic. You can see in the photos the crease marks where the plastic was folded. That will be a point of failure.

The latch fasseners use wood screws into the plexiglass and have already popped off in less than 4 hours.

Gave the 2nd star because it was easy to assemble else it would have been 1 star. Definitely not worth the money.

Fantastic so far!!!! Kiddos love the door/window area! We needed a brooder that the chicks were protected from our cat! This is great! I absolutely recommend!

This is a big upgrade to our usual cardboard box or storage tub. Has lots of cutouts for hanging feeders and running cords safely.
The box it comes in is quality as well so you can count on it for storing the brooder between hatches.
It's made of corrugated plastic board so we can hose it out.
I don't have any complaints as yet. Love it!
