Great waterer for my chinchilla, however...

I love RAC products. I use them for my chickens, and now my chinchilla. My only complaint for this is that I wish they would sell this with the wire bracket. The spring just doesn't have the capacity to keep the waterer elevated when it's full. As soon as I tried to hang this on my cage it slipped down, until the nozzle was resting on the tray of my cage. I immediately went and ordered the bracket and was able to get it the next day. I just put it in the bracket backwards and it works great! We did have to attach the hanger to a piece of wood so that I could position it where I wanted it on my cage. The bracket allows the lid to work better too. Definitely a great purchase, just go ahead and order a bracket when you do.

    Almost perfect

I have a bunch of the older versions of these And just got this one. I like a lot about the new design. Unfortunately the top doesn’t work well with my set up as it hits the latch on my cage door. I still think it is an improvement over the flimsier tops from before. It doesn’t come with the same hanging bracket as the older ones either, just the spring. It works but I’m concerned about it long term.

    Finally! (NOT)

Update: Drips like all the rest. Not worth it after all!I have bought so many water bottles over the years for my guinea pigs and all of them leak no matter what they might advertise. I was always concerned about the water bottle being empty even after I filled it because it would leak and the bottom of their cage would be damp. So, i am trying this one and so far, I love it. It leaked a little the first day, but just when the guinea pigs were drinking. It's easy to fill and the guinea pigs like it. I am hesitate to get super excited, but I have to say, so far I am pretty happy. I would highly recommend based on what I am experiencing after a week!! Yippee!!

    Opaque container hinders algae growth

This might work for a single animal but I have 7 bunnies and 20 chickens. It was too small for what I needed. I sent this back and purchased the 2.5 gallon that I really like. The plus about these types of waterers is the opaque container. The heavy duty container does not allow light to enter which does not encourage algae to grow like my clear waterers. This is the same design as the 2.5 gallon on a smaller scale. Water capacity is accurate. It does hold 8 cups for its compact size. My rabbits and chickens do prefer the ready fill cups opposed to the pecking or licking dispensers so I would recommended swapping them out for the cups.Very easy to fill and clean. Easy to use. I would recommend this waterer for a single animal because I like the 2.5 gallon replacement I bought of a similar design from Rentacoop.

ALL 3 LEAK!!! I would not recommend at all.

Absolute garbage. All 3 that I bought leaked terribly. I am so disappointed. I 100 percent would not recommend for indoor use.

Great design, don’t love the spout

I love how much water it holds, it’s a decent size. I also love how easy it is to fill the water from the hinged lid. The only problem is that after a while it does start to leak and my guinea pigs bedding gets wet. This is my second time purchasing a rent a coop bottle in this style. The first one did last about 2 years!

    Hate new lid

I love the bottles, but I HATE the new lid style. I much preferred the red. The black ones do not stay in place.

    No leaking!

4.5/5. We have 8 of these for our many guinea pigs. None of them leak. We’ve been very happy with them. The only complaints I have are that the plastic is opaque, so that the water level cannot be seen externally. Additionally, the lid is not flush with the side facing the cage, which 1) makes it hard to open when the container is held tightly against the cage from the spring clip and 2) results in the bottle resting at a slight angle, so that water that drips while they are drinking runs away from the tip of the nozzle and towards the base of the nozzle. As a result, some water drips outside of the cage. This only happens if they drink without closing their mouths (not from leaking). Our cage is inside our home, and therefore the water drips on the floor. We had to mount them inside the cages to avoid this, which makes them harder to fill. However, the cages are dryer than ever, so all-in-all, we are very happy.

Finally a bottle that NEVER LEAKS

I have had the worst time finding a water bottle for my chinchilla that doesn't leak everywhere. This one is by far the one. Not a single leak, and the flip top lid is an added bonus. I recommend this to anyone with small animals that is fed up with leaky bottles!

    Liked the old ones better

I have a bunch of the older variation of this item and they are the absolute bomb, easy to fill, easy enough to see the water line, didn't leak. This new variation with the black top does not improve on the previous design, can't see the water line, fiddly stupid lid, nozzle still screws in but it's no longer threaded on the inside. It works for now but I don't know that I would buy another one of this new design like I had bought 5 of the previous version, 4 of which are still in perfect working order.

    Updated

Update: These don’t leak. I’ve had trouble getting rabbits to use them. Swapped out for one of their cups instead and it’s working fantastic. Love being able to pop the kid and fill it without removing it to fill. They do not leak. Sit with water in them for months with no leaking but rabbits refuse to use them. Tried with many different rabbits/litters that use similar water nipples and all refuse to use them.

Great product but spout started leaking

I was so highly satisfied with this item in the beginning. My daughters both bought one each for their rabbits. They weren’t cheap, but they worked hard to earn their money to buy them since they are raising them to show in the fair. One works great while one started leaking from the spout. We’ve only had them in use since for 2 months, got them at very end of June and started using in July, tomorrow is September 1. I wish the company could do something to correct this. This is otherwise a great product as one still works but the other is pretty much useless.

    needs to come with washers

This thing leaked all over the place. I added rubber washers and used plumber's tape and it works great now. But seriously, it should have come with that to begin with...I like the size, I use it for my guinea pigs who drink a lot of water. The lid doesn't like to stay in place, but it doesn't really matter, the lid just sits on top. The big flat top also makes a nice ledge for a small fan for the piggies. The pigs have no problem drinking out of it, but they still prefer the rollerball type if they have a choice.

    Best I have found!

These are the best water bottles that I have found. I have both nozzle types. I found that my guinea pigs don't catch all of the water that comes out of the L-shaped (elbow), nipple style one so it makes it appear as if it is leaking but it isn't. I prefer the one that has the straight nozzle.Overall, they are easy to fill, easy to clean and don't leak. I have 7 of the 32oz waterers and have been very happy. However, I recently purchased 3 more of the straight nozzle ones and one of those is slightly leaking out of the tip. Maybe something shifted in the inner spring area?Hoping to find a link to just buy the mouth pieces, or find a way to contact seller for replacement nozzle.

    Best little critter waterer ever

Finally, someone got it right!!We have had indoor pet rabbits for 26 years. Finding a critter waterer has always been a chore. They always leak, filling up the cage bottom or the litter box if that is where you decide to hang it. Something we could never really evaluate was, "How much is our critter REALLY taking in"? Sure, whenever going for the bunny check up, they always ask, "Is she drinking OK, any thing odd"? We always had to say, "NO CLUE, we fill the bottle, so I guess so".We used to order Morton waterers from out in California, but they are gone. Those were "Push-Pin" valves rather than roller balls like all the pet stores have. They were good, but dripped. This thing is great!! NO LEAKING, not a drop. No dripping like the other waterers leak down the bunnies chin and jaw as well as the bottom of the cage tray. We have a black critter tray from Tractor Supply under the main cage tray, which used to catch the water leaking from the Morton bottle. Since we got this great waterer the black tray is Dry-As-A-bone!! She gets her house cleaned every weekend and litter box more frequently. The bottom / outer walls of the cage are dry as well. When you get it, everything is inside the bottle. The red top must be removed to get the stuff out. It is difficult to get off, just be patient, it really does come off. I would not recommend prying with anything, be patient. Pay close attention to putting the valve together and remember, your critter will be drinking from it, so use clean or sterile tools. We ordered 2 additional bottles for spares because if you need it, you will wish you had and they are cost effective.Be patient!!To the people who made this GEM, thank you so much!!

    The bottle is o.k.

I had heard this brand was good and was excited to try this bottle with my rabbits. The bottle is sturdy and sits on the cage well, the metal nipple was not great for my bunny. She could never figure out how to use it and eventually rubbed off some fur on her face trying to get it to work. I ended up replacing the metal piece with one of the metal cups from this same brand and now it is working great.
