Customers praised this net for effectively catching chickens, ducks, pheasants, and other animals. Many highlighted its sturdy construction, lightweight design, and adjustable telescoping handle. The fine mesh prevents birds from getting tangled. Some concerns about price and the rim feeling weak when fully extended with larger fowl, though no failures reported.

Poultry or Other Critters - Great Extendable Catching Net

Saw a few reviews that referenced the "weak" rim, but this was not an issue to me. This is advertised as a catching net (not a transporting net) and works perfectly well in that regard. Whether its escaped baby chicks, full-grown fowl, rabbits, inadvertently trapped critters in the barn, etc. this is a great net! Once you have your critter snagged, the net is generous enough in size to twist around said critter to transport safely by hand and/or have enough room to maneuver into a better angle to transfer from net to hand-hold. If you require a net to transport heavy fowl or animals (not wanting to touch them and can't be creative in your ways of transport other than via extended pole in the net,) this might not be the net for you. It served my purposes well and I highly recommend.

Best Net to Catch Tokki, the Magic Rabbit

Tokki the Magic Rabbit lets me hand carry him from his hutch in the kitchen to his fenced “ranch” in the backyard. But he avoids being picked up outside. This large and sturdy chicken net makes it easier. He doesn’t like it and still runs away, but sooner or later he gives up and steps into the net and we make the return journey to the house. Highly recommended.

    It's a really large net.

This is a net large enough to catch large chickens and ducks. In my opinion, it's too expensive. That's the only reason I took off a star.

    Great for catching pheasants!

I bought this for catching our pheasants that always seem to get out. Doesn’t help we have naughty goats. It’s really sturdy but not heavy. It comes in handy catching our exploding birds.

    Well made and works well.

This net is well made and works well. One of my concerns was getting a net that would not hurt the birds by being too small or having thin netting which would tangle up and hurt their legs. With this net, I am able to scoop a bird up without lifting too far the ground, then quickly lower the net so that the bird is caught, but still standing on its own. I can then easily reach into the net and pick the bird up holding their wings in the folded state.

    Cumbersome

I like it for the most part, but with its adjustability features are a bit crude and hard to adjust. Catches the poultry great inside the netting.

    Best chicken catching net ever

I’ve had a variety of chickens and other birds for years and I’ve bought different nets over the years. They work but nothing like this net. I love the fact you can shorten the handle in small spaces and if you need to catch a bird up on top of a building you can reach them with the longer handle. Also, this works great with my pigeons and my super large roosters. The small holes in the net really keep the bird from getting tangled. And it makes it much easier to lift the caught lbird out of the net without their wing tips feet and head poking through large net webbing that other nets have had in the past. Really like this net it’s worth the money.

    Light Heavy Net

I really like that this net has quality hardware and feels like it will last! I will update when I use it, for now I am impressed. I have had 2 other nets over the years that fails at the joint of handle and net. This has the hardware to last.

Good net, wish it was a little stronger

We use this net on the farm to catch chickens and Guinea hens. When you have the net fully extended and you catch a larger chicken, a Delaware broiler for example, it feels as if the bar will fail, it hasn’t yet, but it feels weak. Otherwise we love the net, because of the mesh. The chickens can’t really get stuck in the netting. And the deep netting makes it easier to catch them!
Our previous net, the chicks and adult chickens would get the heads through the netting and get all knotted up.

    Strong!

I used this RentACoop Chicken Catcher 5000 – Poultry Catching Net to catch my bunny and catch my hen that were zooming around in the backyard. It was awesome! It IS strong and did not tear when it snagged a branch or when the animals fought it. The telescoping feature worked Great! It allowed me to match the space size I was working in to swing and catch the animals. Thanks

My chickens are scared of the net, but it’s easier to catch a chicken using it.

My chickens are scared to death of this net however, that being said, it works great. We have to manually put our chickens into a pen on a good days and to do this we get them one by one and put them in. There are always a couple of hens who resist getting out of the coop. Once I put this into the coop, they are trapped and it’s easy to get them out.
So, there are negatives about this net in that our chickens are afraid of it however, there are positives because it’s easier to catch a reluctant chicken using it.
