Great method for heating chicks, they love having a safe space to cuddle up, keeps them warm, and gives me peace of mind by reducing the fire hazard. I have heard way too many horror stories about heat lamp fires to risk using the lamps unsupervised. I have 20+ chicks in the brooder now with plenty of room to use this for warmth until they are big enough to not need it anymore. I don't have the antiroosting cone which would save me cleaning, but they do love having something to jump up onto for play and flapping practice, so the extra mess is fine I guess. LOL. I took chicks straight from the incubator to the brooder with this and they are doing great, so I would say it is suitable for brand new chicks. This is the third brood I have used it with this year.

Used this for getting 15 chicks started. Love the safety and energy efficiency of it vs. heat lamp. Very easy to adjust as the chicks got bigger. They seemed to love it.

This is the perfect solution for keeping new chicks warm without having to use heat lamps. Young chicks can sit under the heat and older chicks can sit on top. The top is warm, but not hot, so they can keep their feet toasty warm when roosting on it. I also like the way the platform can be raised and lowered quickly on the legs. Super easy to use. This type of heating system is definitely superior to heat lamps and is much safer. I highly recommend.

I love this. It is very safe. I’ve never had more quiet happy chicks. I used it for ducklings and they did well with it too.

Love this product! I have 24 chicks that fit nicely under it, the 16” size is ideal for anyone that has over a dozen chicks. Most plates I’ve seen are much smaller so this bigger size is great! It’s easy to put together and gives me peace of mind that heat lamps do not. I have a temperature gauge to ensure it’s at the right height for my chicks age and I’ve had no issues at all with it. Highly recommend!

Our chicks loved it, and so much safer than a bulb to heat. They also feathered out quicker, and almost no issues with pasty butt.I definitely would invest in the cover, our chicks did like to perch on top but the poop cleans off easily as well. Very easy to adjust and have a high and low area for different height chicks.We have another brooder plate that we purchased at tractor supply, but I prefer this one for ease of use and clean up.

If you raise small numbers of birds...buy the smaller size. I bought the 16" and it's great, just limits the "open" area for my birds to roam.

This is great for a small batch of newly hatched chicks or ducklings. The low heat is comforting, just like mom. My chicks go from the incubator to under this brooder and have never been happier. This is much safer than a heat lamp and should be less expensive to operate. As the chicks grow, the unit can be raised to accommodate but don't get in a hurry to move it up. The chicks like to snuggle under just like they would a hen. This prevents birds from walking over each and I think has prevented some casualties in my hatch. I have been very happy with this and plan to purchase another, larger, unit.

I'm very happy with this product. First, it is much safer then using heat lamps. Second, I have had zero problems w my chicks having pastie butt from getting too hot. Third, it is easy to clean and easy to use.
