I’ve tried other brands of hemp bedding but Rent A Coop is definitely the best. Long lasting, high quality. I have almost completely discontinued my use of pine shavings in favor of hemp. It’s cleaner, less dusty, smells better and my chickens love it. So do I.
This stuff is great! It has a wood chip -like quality so retains its structure much better than pine or aspen shavings. It doesn't get soggy and yucky nearly as quickly. I use it in the alfresco portion of my chickens' run to absorb moisture and keep the mud down to a minimum. I do not use the deep litter method so still use a pooper scooper to clean up droppings every few days. You could use it in the nesting boxes but it's not soft and fluffy like shavings, which would probably be just fine.

I’ve used several different brands of hemp bedding but will stick with RentaCoop brand because it fulfills its promise of low dust, absorbs odors perfectly (this picture is of the coop with two bags of the hemp bedding after five weeks) and there is not odor nor visible poop. I have twenty-one girls in this coop and other than an occasional feather it’s clean. My girls certainly enjoy it and that makes me happy. And yes I use the deep litter method. Thanks RentaCoop for a brilliant bedding.
Cuts way back on the smell, super absorbent and lasts a long time between changes. Seems to have less dust also. I love it!
I used this as a substrate for growing mycelium and it’s great!
Seventh week with chicks in the laundry room. The first two weeks were getting smelly and then I found this product. Really keeps the smell down.
