I think it works best with young birds. Very young pullets will learn to use it quickly but older hens will pout. With a little help, one bird will figure it out and all the others will learn from the one. I had a new flock last season, but my run did not keep out the over populated racoons in the large wooded area next to my home. I lost them all. I'm starting again this season with a new design for my coop and run. This is certainly my watering system. I don't have time to be dealing with new chicks and them pooping in their water all the time. With this system, I know their water is always clean!
Great product from a great company. I raise a couple hundred birds a year and needed a watering system to keep them all going. Rentacoop had what I need with a great price too!
Haven't been at this "chicken raising" thing very long. But long enough to know what works Nd what doesn't. These do! I already have about a dozen other brands/styles but needed some spares that work. These are the cat's meow/chicken's cluck.

everyithing came in fast, and all products work great, very pleased
Great product chickens took right to them
I started with another type of nipple waterer for chickens. The chickens seem to prefer this one. I bought the 10 pack, used 9 with one for a replacement if needed. Put on a 30 gallon food grade plastic barrel.
Terrific customer service. These drinkers are perfect. No more tractor supply cups falling it and losing all my water. Game changer
Simple to install and seals up nicely. The chickens took a bit to figure it out but it makes it simple to water them for extended periods of time now.
no leak anymore
Being new to chickens. I had red buckets and quickly changed that to the perfect white buckets with Texas on the front. I held a few chicks up to the nipple and “helped” them peck at it. A few attempts and they will all catch on. I absolutely love that these will eliminate the gunky water trays.
We absolutely love these for providing water to our chickens. Keeps the water clean and even the babies caught on to how to use them fast!!
Installed these waterers and spent a bit of time training the 3 week old broiler chicks. It took probably a total of an hour showing them the nipples but after that there was no looking back. 4 week old layer chicks still haven't taken to the nipples yet.
Love the nipples because you can set the bucket down without damaging the nipples. They don't wet the ground below the bucket.
Installed two nipples to a 1.3 gallon jug and put them with the chickens. Have 6 week old Austalorps. They seemed to all peck at it fine right away. Checked on them in the morning and they did not drink any at all. Put the regular water dispenser back with them and they all ran to it and drank and drank and drank. Poor things went all night without any water since I also marked the waterline of the jug. Piston seemed to work fine when I push it in and hold it for a second or two but the chickens didn't quite figure it out.
These are great I can make a quick water anytime anywhere. Always keep some extra because they are so handy!
