I’ve been breeding rabbits for more than 5 years now, and we currently have over 40. If you’ve ever had to take the time to refill 15+ metal spigot bottles sometimes twice daily you know how much of a hassle it is. I love these new waterers, and have waited a couple months of fully using them before reviewing. They do have some cons, but so does every other bottle I’ve used, specifically leaking out in temp changes.
Pros: rabbits will drink more from a dish than a spigot, yet I can fill all waters in less than 5 minutes. This gives us the ease of a top fill bottle with the dish so they drink more in summer. They can get dirty, but you can just turn them sideways and spray or wipe them out. I do still have backup dishes in some cages for summer, but I did that with the old bottles too. Cons: I have the most difficulty with the mom/kit cages that have a lot of activity, and sometimes the bunbuns drain the water fast—some have learned to lie underneath to get themselves wet and cool off, and I have one dam who likes to rest her chin in the dish. However, none of the dishes have broken from such use though the water drains out and of that gets them safely through a hundred degree day, I’ll take it. I no longer use a backup cup on the cages with single bucks—they don’t make their bottles leak and I trust them to not drain out between fillings.
I did receive some cups that leaked consistently in my initial purchase, but the company made it right ASAP until I had ones that worked.
The first set of cups wouldn't stop filling, but 1 email to the company and replacement cups were on the way. The second set work perfect. Very happy with the product and even more so with the company.
I bought this for my Syrian hamster and we both love it! Doesn't leak like a traditional style water bottle, it's quiet, and my hamster doesn't have to arch his back unnaturally to reach it. And it's made in my home state!!! Awesome product!
the one i ordered was with the long pipe with the metal cup but i was sent the short pipe with the pen that hangs down moves from side to side so i will have to order the right part but the waterer will be perfect
Love this automatic water specially sense I can clean it easily and can use it for different small animals! Plan on buying more in the next month or so!
Side note: it HAS to be level or the cup will leak! (Kinda why mines on two little red bricks...)
We had to fashion a means to attach it to our Guinea Pig's glass cage, but other than that it is an amazing product!!!! Wish we would have found it sooner!
Like it but not easy to take off of cage to clean. Will probably end up going g back to our gravity waterer.
